I accept that violence and gore are part of playing a Paladin and putting an end to Evil in a game... But it kind of sucks when a game allows me to play a moralistic Hero unless I want that same hero to fall in love,,, in which case he suddenly has to have NO morals in most modern games... because for an unknown reason the ONLY unacceptable kind of romance story in the modern world seems to be the old school fall in love with the nice girl and get married and THEN have intimate relations kind of story.
Some very few of us... if we are going to play an Arthurian kind of Paladin... want an Arthurian kind of romance. An actual romance of the heart... not a late night Cinemax/ CW show.
Are they bad humanoids? Most likely yes. No I don't have a problem with killing bad people.
Sex is personal and a private matter to a lot of people. So show some respect that they want to keep it that way.
Also some people may not care for sex or romance in videogames.
Better think about Mario Bros or Zelda.
no, there will be no wholesome traditional straight relationships.
best you can manage as a male will be shadowheart. she wont bang you the first night and all you do is talk and cuddle. spoilers i guess but i think its been publicly confirmed for years now theres only one true sex scene in ea. So that being said, this means most characters you'll have to work your way up through multiple scenes before you get something as intense as bear sex.
But i dont think any of them are going to be wholesome and vanilla. they seem to all be pretty edgy, but, hey, we dont have -anything- confirmed, so this is all just asking our impressions so far.
If the EA is anything to go by, you aren't going to be forced into a good time with your clothes off, but no idea what the rest of the game will entail. DOS2's romance arcs allows you to decline the sex bit when you get to that, doesn't it?
Anyways, to answer the question, after playing the EA I personally noticed that the romance with Shadowheart and Wyll seem a bit slower paced than the other ones on display. Will there still be a sex scene? Eh, yeah, probably. Though Wyll's romance scene in the EA has a choice where you can ask him to bed you or ask him to just spend the night comfortably with him, so it's entirely possible there's potential for such a choice in other scenes as well.
Really, there's nothing to be done besides speculate. Sex as the culmination (or at least a part of) a video game romance arc has been a staple for a while, since Dragon Age at least. So I'm tempted to say you shouldn't hold your breath. But it's also possible.
Yes and so will BG3.
Astarion asked if I wanted to "Have fun" right?
I clicked the option to just walk away. His response?
"That's a 'No' to fun, then?!"
Well I played Dragon Age... and did the Romance Arc... and it worked out without the need for "Physical Intimacy". That was an amazing game that realized that such an option makes as much sense as the more physical ones.
