We don't know. Sven was saying you can embrace the powers end the game singularly powerful. It could well be you can become an independent Mindflayer with class levels. That's powerful.

Yes, the issue would be that once you are transformed into the Mindflyer you are no longer yourself.

That means, technically , you don`t control it anymore.

I don't think the level cap is so bad. It probably means you actually get to enjoy playing the last 8 hours or so at full 12th level and concentrate on maxing out magic items and secret powers.

That's right. We'd be something like Omeleum in the Underdark, a free-willed Illithid, independent from any elder mind. Mindblast + brain extract attack + psionic powers + class levels and magic items = uber Tav.

With a massive ego and genius intellect, such a being can define for itself its meaning and purpose. It's beyond sexuality, as it's singularly perfect. Does have its memories, but as time goes by those old habits would become quaint remnants.

It'd kind of be like a monstrous Jon Irenicus.
