I believe it's going to be the sentient being locked inside the Githyanki runebox, depending on the choices made.

Reason I believe so is because there is a book describing how the Githyanki broke free of the Mindflayer enslavement through a limitless source of power of unknown origin, which clearly they decided to keep for themselves. And it is because of that power that they remain free and are so hellbent on retrieving it at any cost, which is precisely what the box does for the protagonists aboard the Nautiloid and throughout the story.

Because of this the box keeps warning and protecting the protagonists whenever there is danger and in the beginning can only communicate while they are unconscious (reason why it pulls even Drows into deep sleep), but as the protagonists use the Illithid powers more so does the Dreamer's power grow as a focusing lens to the point where it can start to communicate even outside of dreams and most likely will be able to fully manifest later in the game.

So my guess is Shar's followers think they will be able to use the box for their own purpose just like the Githyanki have, but whatever happens it definitely is going to be unlocked and unleash the Dreamer from within... who then may or may not go complete psycho on everyone because who wouldn't after being locked in a tiny box for thousands of years :D

After all we are IT'S champions and by resisting or implying it's the tadpole's doing, we are already somewhat angering it.
