Fighter/Warlock Multi-class Advice Request
Hello!

I am looking to play a class that is high on charisma but can fight decently in melee in BG3. That would of course mean Paladin but I am not super excited about the Oaths. All power to you if you like them, they just aren't for me. :)

If anyone here has advice in regards to making a fighter/warlock multiclass work, I'd sure appreicate it. Firstly, I am not interested in min/max'ing - I am perfectly fine with the combo being subpar as long as it isn't entirely useless.

What I am most unsure about is how one would distribute ability scores. I am not the most experienced 5e player.

Any help/feedback is appreciated!

First, see what the Pact of the Blade bion option at level 3 gives us. In tabletop, adding fighter to warlock doesn't accomplish much because warlocks are enabled to be viable warriors in their own right with the hexblade subclass. BG3 won't have that at level 1, but could very well have an equivalent.

What do you want, specifically, from Fighter and Warlock? Reasons for asking:

1. Valor and Sword bards are a. not Paladins b. high on Charisma and c. can fight decently in melee.
2. If there's a specific thing you want from either Warlock or Fighter, I would not want to give advice away from that.

I think the only obvious Charisma based thing Fighters get is Rally off of Battlemaster, a modest heal.

There aren't really super many synergies here, I would probably go for the Bard if you want charisma and don't like the Paladin, as the hexblade isn't in the game.
If I were to go fighter/warlock, I would go anything but pact of the blade, I don't think it will do a whole lot for you.
Is there any reason why you want Warlock? You can just make a fighter with good charisma if you like, unless the spells are important to you.

Champion 11/1 warlock(The Great Old One) basically you are sacrificing 1 feat and a bit of a delay on feats and second extra attack from level 11 to level 12.. For Hex and Mortal Reminder: on crit you Frighten everyone.. Problem is there is no Elven Accuracy feat and crits on 18 are at level 15 so that's a shame.

You get to pick two cantrips that hit based of Charisma and one extra spell. you can go higher to level 3 but you lose one extra attack...So not worth it... i mean it's not Hexblade subclass but that one is broken anyway...

Hey I wanted to post on this since the game is now out! If you don’t already know, Warlock gets pact of the Blade which allows you to add your charisma mod to your melee damage!

So I’m character creation max out your charisma at 17 then constitution at 16 then dex at 14. Give your +2 bonus to your charisma and your +1 bonus to your Con. The current build I have has strength at 10 but you can put those two into wisdom or intelligence as your strength won’t matter much after level 3

start the game as the fighter class to get all the armor proficiency’s and start the game with medium armor and a two handed sword.

At level two multi-class into Warlock

Keep leveling up warlock till level 3 and grab pact of the blade

From there so as you please you now have a tank frontline melee build with great dps as well as powerful spell casting. With Eldritch blast you can be effective from pretty much any range!

In terms of spells to take early on obviously grab Eldritch blast! And also grab hex as it just gives you more dps. From there it’s up to you how you want to build out your warlock spells
