Hey my game broke, it's not letting me click "New game"

Edit:Just wiped the C drive & it's working fine.
I just remembered i family shared this game with a friend so he could try it out while i was hanging out with my nephew so i am well past the 2hr mark for a refund XD
Not his fault,The game worked just fine when i played it earlier that day & that was with family share on.

i tried
1. Verifying the files.
2.Reinstalling it multiple times on different drives.
3.I tried google fixes.Which includes running it as admin.
4.Restarting my pc.
5.Revoking family share from everyone.
6.Deleted all the files & reinstalled them.
7.Tried out directx11
8.Uninstalled,the mods i used via vortex,then deleted them & then i uninstalled vortex.
9.tried calling it names.

Full clean up and reinstall. Just installing game files do not clean your settings etc..
1. Locate your game folder with steam (or other means)
2. Uninstall
3. Delete your game folder
4. Delete C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3
5. Delete (if exists) C:\Users\<UserName>\Documents\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3
6, Delete (if exists) C:\Users\<UserName>\OneDrive\Documents\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3 (Your OneDrive location can vary)

Note all local saves, mods and settings are lost. Copy your save for safekeeping if you want.

Yeah i'm thinking the same thing,THe only thing i haven't tried out is getting a refund & buying it again. I'm just grasping at straws but idk if i'm actually going to get one since i'm over the 2hr mark.

I played with mods for a bit,worked fine,went to go to play with a bud uninstalled them like i normally do with vortex for a clean & i did a clean wipe to be safe while i waited for his game to get done downloading.

Edit: i even uninstalled & deleted all mods & mod managers for every game i own just to try to fix it but nope XD

It is practically impossible that you cleaned fully and reinstalled. Game would work like it works everyone else.

I am still betting old mods are lurking somewhere. You do not even have the regular background there. Very much indicating quite messed up mods/install.

I can record it or open up discord to screen share it, i am fairly sure i wiped everything. via first uninstalling them through the mod manager,then deleting the archives of said mods

You need to delete all the folders I mentioned. Uninstall managers can ne shoved to where sun does not shine.

This problem just smacks of mod lint. OP knew he had installed mods, but failed to mention it until directly asked.

Didn't think it was relevant due to me uninstalling everything to do a unmodded run but i will add it to the post

Alright i'll give it another go, this time i will record it just in case support wants to see it.

F-drive may not be the problem. Settings and several mods are stored in windows application and/or document folders. They are usually on c-drive. In places what I wrote earlier in my list.

If you have not ever deleted the f-drive game folder, sure, it can contain mods remants too.

oh yes. finding the mod folder in app / roaming i dont know ... was very hard. But you have to find that folder and delete the mods by hands.

Weird i assumed it would be all on the f drive since that's where i had my mod manager & games set to but i'll give that a look once it finishes searching,Then i'll look at all the app files it can find

No it is not weird. It is standard way of windows applications to store application data.
