i just buy it, does this RPG have racist content?
sorry for the somewhat crude title

but the real question is whether there is racism from other npc's in game based on the various races ?

for example if I play a dwarf would I be insulted by some npc about my physical deformity which could be repugnant to other races?

I find that racism increases the credibility of a world, because if there is no racism and everyone is nice, it's not immersive

thank you

For sure. Goblins are hated because who they are. Scums.

If you don't find enough in the game, you can always come here. You can always find something. Right now, there's some anti-dwarf sentiment in the 'Playing with Achondroplasiaphobia' discussion -- https://steamcommunity.com/app/1086940/discussions/0/3802775659506069299/

I will say that it's probably unlikely to go as far as stuff like the Witcher or Dragon Age.

Which honestly, I get it, but I feel like two major RPG series using Elves largely as 'racism is dumb and bad' just got a bit much for me.

Its an RPG with multiple races, so yes. Although...I'm not sure where you got 'physical deformity' from 'Dwarf'. You do know that the Dwarves in DnD are a race unto themselves, not Humans with a congenital condition, right?

It has but not such offensive as in Dragon Age. For example tieflings are considered as demons by some people, drows are feared because of rumors about them, githyanki well are aggressive towards others themselves, but nothing like how city elves in dragon age treatment

I played a drow bard last and boy did everyone let me know about that :-D I was accused of enslaving everyone I meet/ goblin were instantly following my commands (that was very helpful and amazing) and a lot of other folks were just surprised to see me above ground.

Very well done by Larian. I actually felt like playing a well-known (hated) race.

Given all the many races in the game, there's surprisingly little racism.

I think the duergar and goblins seem the worst offenders, but they're not clear-cut. Many of the druids just plain dislike all outsiders, not racist, just pricks. Even the one that call the Tieflings 'devilkin' seem to be using the insult of the day to prod them to leave, without actually resorting to violence. I suppose that's racism, but not deeply held.

Play the good-guy route and note a majority of their attitudes soften and change.

No, you won't. In order to be insulted for your deformity you have to launch Vermintide 2, pick Bardin and shoot Saltspire, then he asks "are you short sighted aswell?"

That what you are looking for is a dark setting fantasy world. BG3 is kinda dark sometimes, but do not expect a world like in the witcher. You can already tell in the lightning the devs use. Its colorful and bright. But still ... sometimes it can be dark indeed around Baldursgate.
