we have only part of act 1 which isn't extremely big but larian likes to cram as much into a small map as possible so you're not walking for ages with nothing to do. but this game is big, ACT 2 is apparently disgustingly gigantic and is bigger then act 1 and act 3 combined from what i remember hearing. which is how dos 2 was just on a bigger scale overall.
I can understand that, personally i have always felt it bogged down the game with the random encounters and traveling to locations that were usually just for fights, but it did give it an illusion of a giant world
Also there is this map as well that shows the locations i'm guessing this will be filled in with new locations as the game goes on

unlikely
heavy spoilers
we know we get teleported to chult which is a place full of dinosaurs, and it's clearly not shown on that map since chult is miles away, speculation on my part but maybe we get 1 new "overworld" map every act judging from articles and reading files maybe everything leading up to the city might be ACT 1 and as soon as we enter the city ACT 2 begins and ACT 2 is the biggest by far.
