Sorcerer with Insight ?
Hello smart people, I would like to play Sorcerer with Insight as proficiency. As it is govern by Wisdom, how would that proficiency level up?
Does leveling up automatically gives it +1?
Should this character have higher wisdom?
Is there a way to do it with only 10 wisdom?
Thank you :WololoDE:

Proficiency is a flat bonus that gets better when you level up.

Proficiency
lvl 1-4 +2
5-8 +3
9-13 +4

Your skills also have a matching stat that it gets beefed from

8-9 is -1
10-11 is 0
12-13 is +1
14-15 is +2
16-17 is +3
18-19 is +4
20 is +5

So if you are a lvl 1 character with 14 wisdom and prof in insight, your bonus is going to be a +4 and will go up to a maximum of +6 by this games end unless you also beef up your wisdom.

All skills work the same. Insight would be:

d20 + wisdom mod + proficiency bonus.

At level 1 proficiency bonus is +2, it inceases to +3 @ lvl 5, and to +4 @ lvl 9.

In my opinion you should not invest ability points to increase singular skills. Generally you would match your skills to your strengths, unless you are trying to roleplay in a specific direction.

depanding on your luck... if you role high maybe proficiency bonus is all you need in life who knows... But normal people like me who have ♥♥♥♥♥ dice rolls need all the help they can get from items and stats modifiers and i still fail rolls even after using 4 inspiration points.

Did you disable karmic dice? It'll make you fail no matter what, if you succeed to often and vice versa.

Proficiency + Guidance is typically good enough for most people, you don't always need a maxed out stat to be decent at something.
