A few questions: 1- is the game worth buying at this stage? 2-how many hours of gameplay/story do we expect to have in total? 100s of hours?
Thank you

If you bought it and played right now it's got 25-30 hours of content with act 1, but your save won't transfer to full release. So bet to wait a month now. The main full game we do not know the hours of content but it has 3 acts so a safe bet would be to triple act 1 so it likely has as a guess only 90+ hours of content with 1 playthru, it has at least 2 story lines 1 evil and 1 for good characters that we can really see unfolding in act 1 so potentially double the hours if you play both sides.

1- Depend on you. You will have only access to Act 1 wich is roughtly 35-45 hours of gameplay with a levelcap of 5 with no save compatibility with the 1.0 but you will get the deluxe edition on release and 3 days headstart.

2- In an interview Swen Vinkle, the project manager of BG3 said most people will do their playthrough in 75-100 hours and for completionists people this will take 200 hours.

Thank you both, I appreciate those answers. I may just pick it up now to have it in my library.

1) Depends, if youve the spare cash then there's no reason not to. If you buy and download it now you'll only have to deal with a patch download (we hope)

2) hour counts are highly subjective. When i bought the OG Baldurs Gate i was told 80-100h to complete everything. It took me over 300h. Its a question of your playstyle. I took 60h to finish all the EA content, so im looking at probably 250-300 on full release, not to mention different playthoughs

The game has a huge variety of class options and race options that'll vastly change how you experience the game and how you approach encounters.
And on top of that if you're not familiar with the DnD E5 rule set then I'd advice to enjoy some of the early access now, try a few classes, see what suits you play and get accustomed to the rules and systems.

The full playthrough is estimated to be around 100 hours just for the mainstory and leveling.
It would be painful to get 20-30 hours into a playthrough just to realise you aren't enjoying your main characters class or realising you've spent your past 2-3 level ups in a way that doesn't benefit you as much as you'd like.
1) Yes.

2) 1000's.

Yes, you should buy 12 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ copies and give them to friends and family so you can play through multiple times for thousands of hours of enjoyment.

I think you should wait, don't get me wrong early access was really really great (Art) I put nearly 100 hours into it and it not even the full act 1. I should note I do not play for difficulty so I like explore the world, and the story and characters.

I will warn you if you do pick up and you enjoy it going feel like a very long month to wait. It been two days and time feel so slow.

The characters, the lore, the world building, the level design, the reaction from the characters and events from your race, class and action is fantastic I can't wait to play every race and class.

Also for once I going to completed a bad playthrough as I found it just so good.

A first play is a totally unique experience you'll never ever be able to reproduce, so as the full release is really soon, don't waste your first play in excess of hurry.

The Act 1 you can already play IS NOT the Act 1 at release, so play it now isn't the exact first play experience.

I will keep it in my library and play it when the game releases :-)
I am just glad I pulled the trigger to buy it now.
I really appreciate the friendly community.
Also, any advice or pre-cursor games I need to play I would appreciate. (no pressure).

To gave a racial example of this:
There's one encounter early after the tutorial where you meet two certain individuals. Normally they will greet you with slight caution but settle down quickly. If you play as a Githyanki or a race from the Underdark like a Drow or Deep Gnome however they,ll immediatly turn hostile and attack you unless you can convince them you're not going to hurt them.

Wow, so slightly more aggressive initial reaction depending on your race? Revolutionary.
