75-100 hours average playthrough...wow if true
An article i read over at gamespot, quoting from the article -"Between 75 and 100 hours, that's what we're seeing," Vincke said. "That's not doing everything, that is just going to be a playthrough. There will be people who will be way over that, the ones who want to do everything. They will probably hit 200 hours, I think. On average we're seeing people who are going through take about 75 to 100 hours."

Ill admit if true, this sounds like this game will take quite a bit to complete.. I think we will see more than our asking price. The quote apparently came from Larian legend himself Swen.

That figure seems pretty normal to me. If anything, it's a bit lower than what I'd expect. That's closer to the completion time for DOS2, and BG3 is supposed to be a good deal bigger.
There's roughly 35-45 hours in EA right now.

If we assume Act 2 is at least 30% longer, then it's roughly 45-60 hours or so.

And then Act 3 probably about as long as Act 1, so another 35-45 hours.

Add them up, and you get approximately 115-150 hours.

I'm already nearing 600 hours just in EA, and it's likely I'll spend 1000's of hours playing this game, especially with mods.

It took me 60 hrs for a first playthrough of EA without the forge area and 800hrs tota; this game is going to be consuming my life for a while, i mean even though they brought it ahead of starfield i do not think i will be anywhere close to done with bg3 to play it still.

Swen did say a while ago that BG3's Act 2 was bigger than the entirety of DOS1 and 2 combined

lol i remember buying Baldurs Gate 1 on release day and asking the guy in the shop how long it would take to complete. 80-100h he said lol. My first full run of it was over 300h.

When it comes to RPG's ive learnt to ignore what some one, even the developer, says how long it'll take to complete

it will not be, 2 millions words, it IS MORE THAN 20 books of 300 hubdred sentences, 1 b book take me 8 to twelve hours, so not, it will definitely not be 100 hours, unless you want to speedrun.

I think EA was supposed to be 30ish hours?

It takes me ~90

So if whole game is 75-100

For me that’s 225-300

its not a book

It's not a book and 2 millions words is all occurence/dialogue possibility, in one playtrought I doubt you will see 40-50% of all possible dialogue.

they already said that there is a part you can get through 800 lines of dialogue in 4 clicks because it is accounting for all the permutations you had to get there. So no doubt.

Just normal numbers for any rpg. Moder AAA gaming tries to sell you 70-100$ games that last 4-10 hours and pretend lik that is the norm. While good rpgs were always that long

There's 175 hours of cutscenes alone in this game. You may get through the main story in 100 hours but with replays and all that poeple are going to be spending hundreds of hours on this game. That's why they ought to release it now and don't even wait until August.

I believe the 75-100 was in reference to what people were actually spending on act 1. Not projections for the whole game.
