We'll see. Shield is so important for casters I highly doubt they'll leave it out.

Idk, Shield's not a great spell. Use a spell slot for +5 AC for 1 turn - very situational.
Mage Armor is important, wouldn't call Shield that though.

That's not what it does: https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/shield

+5 ac against the triggering attack (and every other one for one turn).
Cancel magic missile, even if it is using a nine level spell slot.

Ye, misreading and remembering there - was flicking through a bunch of spells.
Left out the missile immunity because that drops off fairly quickly.

Even so, not something I'd use a spell slot on if I had access to better spells.

it last untill your next turn...so way more then just one attack. not to shaby on charisma casters that multiclass... like 6-7 paladin/xsorcerer or bard/sorcerer or you can pick it up with the feat..

TO op i would hope it's gonna be in, they said 600 spell so those on the notes list and EA spells don't get you anywhere close to that 600 so lots of spells are still unconfirmed i guess.

If that's not the case i have no clue how they got that 600 number.

yep shield is quite strong as it last until your next turn. the more enemy there are, the more value you get.

on table top, my bladesinger single handly dodged attacks from 8 enemys just simply standing in frontline

I too have this kind of experience in TT. Without this spell i wouldn't go for an abjurator wizard, and i'ts kind of one of my favorite build.

funny thing was that my DM didn't even pay attention at the maths until few rounds later

DM: what his AC again?
Me: 25, whats the + hit anyway
DM: hm... +4... wait... so that mean I can never hit you?
Me: Well... if you roll a nat20 but i also got Lucky...
DM: ...

ANYTHING that makes you survive longer is BEST IN SLOT, always...

Also a LOT of the spellcasters classes has ways to recuperate low level spellslots easely.

Are you kidding? Shield is one of the most important defensive spells a caster can get.

yep, who need plate armor when you can just use shield. wizard got low hp? no problem. as long as you don't get hit with high AC from shield. your HP doesn't even matter.

as long as i have spell slots and shield, my wizard are way more tanky than a tank (until a fireball drop on you... then you may have to consider shield or counterspell)

I'm not saying it's bad, I'm saying it's situational and better options are available.

On it's own, fine. +5 to save your ass for 1 round.

I've never seen anyone who could take the spell on the Tabletop not take it. And I see it used in almost every fight. It might sound situational, however generally these situations happen so frequently...I wouldn't normally play a vaster without it, if he has access to it...

I hope so. Shield would be nice. Missing Spirtual Weapon which is bread and butter for cleric damage output.
