Druids lacking
No conjure spells that are their bread and butter?? Circle of the spore over circle of the shepherd
Love the game but the druid needs some of it's core class features brought over

I get the feeling any summoner classes are going to be given the back seat given that 5e already nerfed them pretty hard compared to earlier editions.

Mods, my friend. You’re not the only one thinking about how weak conjurers feel in general.

That's more or less the problem, i'm a small time modder who makes tweaks to games if the tools are available. So it is frustrating to have to fix aspects of what should be in the game from the start, but ignored since it is easier than solving the problem.

Druids aren't really lacking at all. Their core feature isn't conjuration, it's wild-shaping. Much like clerics they learn ALL their spells as they level up but they have to prepare them.

One subclass is focused on conjuration. Just one out of 7.

Try a Beastmaster Ranger. The class is an enjoyable conjurable pet class.

I don't know what core features you feel is lacking, druids can cast and shapeshift into different creatures.
Druid is one of my favorite classes right now, but chiefly the thing that needs fixing is that 'spell actions' (like repositioning Moonbeam, Calling Lightning, etc.) needs to be useable in Wildshape.

I was also really looking forward to Circle of the Shephard :P

Pathfinder has a feat that allows you to cast and speak in beast form. Does 5E have one that is similar or no?

Conjure/summon animals, woodland beasts, fey

I concede the druid spells removed from the lists are rough. I wanted to see Bones of the Earth spell. Summon animals, woodland beasts, and fey should be on the list but not a core feature, spellcasting is the core feature, these are spells. Druids do get to summon the..... elementals? (We'll see how the elementals do) Missing summoning doesn't kill the class for me.

What I'm looking to see how reactions of a spore druid are going to work when the shield spell isn't even in-game. Spore druids use a reaction to deal 1d4 necrotic damage with a con save every round to creatures that start their turn or move within ten feet.

*'spell actions' (like repositioning Moonbeam, Calling Lightning, etc.) needs to be useable in Wildshape.* -I have to concur with this. It is a QoL issue for druids...lol

I never played a druid in BG1/BG2, but I have grown to love them in BG3. Mr. Bear kicks ass, and I love coming upside someone's head with Shillelagh. I hope the rumors of owlbear are true, because I will love my druid even more.
