Can you long sleep before you get rid of the parasite?
I know this seems silly but, I was wondering if I long sleep too many times do you turn into an Illithid? I just don't know if that's a mechanic in the game. If not, maybe it should be for RP reasons.

Not in EA.

Not in the EA version; may well have consequences in the 1.0 release.

I suspect that you will never turn into a Mindflayer, and that the Tadpoles are just being used as a vector for something else.
The Green Hag tell you that the tadpoles have been modified by Netherese shadow magic, and when Omeluum (The Mindflayer in the Underdark) tries to connect to your Tadpole, he increases its power instead of learning about its properties.

In BG1&2 the story revolves around rebirthing deities slain during the time of troubles, it is quite feasible that this through-line will be continued.

That would go against their true purpose.

I was scared to sleep in game aswell ... but it only has consequences if you use the tadpole-powers. If you dont use them ... nothing will happen and theres an explaination in EA already to find for this strange condition. So ... dont be afraid of camp times ... and find out :)

Does that include forcing people to do as you say, in conversations, or just the red icon powers that the person in your dreams gives you?

There is actually one timer in the game I have found based on sleep. Spoilers obviously:

If you murder Gale, a hologram of him pops up and tells you that if he's not resurrected within 2 days many people will die. And then if you actually sleep enough times to advance 2 days without resurrecting him, you get a gameover screen.

Yeah I found it with a playthrough to test a class, and figured that I'd pick all the options I normally wouldn't just to experience it. Was so funny to find that it actually had a consequence like that.
you find out pretty quickly, within the first rest i think even that...

The Tadpoles aren't behaving normally

Its not the rests that get you, its trying to using the psyonic powers of the tadpole
