Can I play this with my girlfriend and we both have two different custom characters?
Like in divinity, you can create two main characters or even four.

Is it turn based?

Can we play it on the same computer, aka hotseat?

You and your girl (grats on real life gf) can both play together, she would need her own device though.

it is turn base,

you can play on same computer, just not playing together.

Thank you. I would like more details please, so if we can create four custom characters in the same session, and it is turn based what keeps us from just using our different characters when it is their turn to fight? While sharing the same computer?

I mean, she can create two characters and I two, and then when we go through the world on the computer together, we can pick fights and I will just give her control of her characters when it is their combat turn?

Via multiplayer you can have up to four chars, and you can assign them via the session menu. on release there will be an option for full custom parties.
If you just play on one device, you'll have to manage that for yourself, until release, when splitscreen will be available. If you use multiplayer (either via Splitscreen or multiple devices) everyone has only access to their assigned characters.

Edit: if you only want to use one device you currently can use the debug option to start the game multiple times for character creation. once all characters are in the game, save the game, close the additional clients and only use the one client to play, but you'll have to manage yourself who has access to each char, there is no way the game currently can distinguish between them.

Nothing, but your characters won't be able to give diferent responses in specific moments in the story, nor have diferent dreams, etc.

If you just want to hot seat the combat and each one control 2 characters there's nothing stopping you.

Thank you guys, then I will probably buy it. If I understand correctly, only act 1 is available right now. With act 2 and 3 coming during release. Will we be able to play an early access save on the release version?

No. Well, the "release" version will come out 72 hours early for EA owners. So, if you start your game after the release version is available, then you can continue your playthrough. You cannot continue a playthrough made now though, through release.

Also, just a bit of clarification (I think). We've seen split screen coop from the Sony showcase, but I don't think that has been officially confirmed for PC, on release. I agree with the others though, and expect it, but I don't think any official announcement has been made that the modes we saw at the Sony show are also available for PC, and on release. just a cautionary FYI.

Please correct me if that confirmation is available.

No, saves will not be compatible. However, if you buy the EA version you'll get the Digital Deluxe for free, with access to another 72h early access to the full version act 1, which will be compatible to the full version.
This is most likely due to this being a special build of the game. Also there will most likely be changes to act 1, so the full version act 1 will be different from the EA act 1, so you'd probably want to restart anyway, even if the saves were compatible.

While I understand your caution, that trailer mentions the PC version, so I'd be very surprised if split screen and the other things wouldn't also find their way into the pc version, especially as we know that the main hold up for the xbox version is the split screen not working properly on the xbox s, which shows that that feature is planned for multiple systems.

Oh, I agree. I only mentioned that because it seemed like the OP might be making a buying decision based on that information (OP, only use official information from official sources for that type of decision) and I just wanted to make sure that the OP understood that while almost definitely the case, that co-op mode isn't 100% confirmed. At least to my knowledge.

Well, they've announced split-screen with their latest trailer. However, I'm not sure if it also applies to PC but I'd be suprised if it didn't.

Nothing can stop you from doing that. I'm currently playing that way with my grilfriend.

So, release is here. Are we able to hotseat? How is the experience doing so?
