aaye but what i ment was "those 15, is a choice between all the 45? or you can NEVER get some of the wizard spells for a sorcerer? <3
<3
Sorcerer knows an innate set of spells they can use they are not as versatile in that manner but they make up for it with meta magic, Which allows them to make spells have a longer ranger, cast twice for 1 spell slot, or let allies succeed on saving rolls for their spells which can be life saving if you see a shot for an AoE and your team is in the blast zone.
As far as the 2 sub classes go, you dont get to draw on a lot of the power of draconic yet but it boost spells and gives benifits based on the bloodline you choose, so if you really like fire or ice you can buff those spells and gain resist to that damage. While Wild magic is fun chaos that causes random effects every time you cast a spell and i think its the best class for casting cuz chaotic fun. You may cast a fireball then the random effect may heal your whole party, or give them crits on the next attack.... or you may blind them all haha
as far as what race? anything you want honestly, a race that gets stats in your main stat for that class is usually best but every race can play any class to proper effect you dont have to meta.
Basically every class has their own spell list, and there is a good amount of overlap, but each class has their own spells.
You can look them up online.
Both Wizards and sorcerers are arcane casters (together with the bard) so their spell lists overlap quite a bit.
Druids and Clerics are divine casters. They have completely different spells, and again both classes have some spells that both have and each have their own spells the other can't get.
(Though the Bard has a feature where he can get a limited amount of spells from any spell list)
So yes, there are spells the wizard has, that the sorcerer can't get, but there are also spells the sorcerer has, that the wizard can't get. Though the wizard has one of the largest spell list, if not even the largest.
But again, there are way to many spells, and I never bothered to learning the spell lists...I'm pretty sure the sorcerer has spells for pretty much every occasion anyway, so you really don't have to worry to much about that.
Normally? I don't know haha, and I'll admit I have not played wizard since like patch 2 or 3 but you could use a scroll and learn anything at the time. So it was possible, I would have to test it again to see if it is still possible lol
Arcane casters typicalky get temp hp, divine casters get healing.
The usual healing magic isn't available to a wizard. They do technically have access to the spell Life Transference, but the cost of a level 3 spell slot to a wizard is pretty high, and I don't think I've ever actually seen a player bother to prepare it.
Ahhh good to know they fixed it, well that botches that versatility but rightfully so haha
I'd be first in line to rage against Larian if they kept that in. I'm still annoyed that it took as long as it did for them to stop it from working in EA.
...which is normally something you'd never want to do, as it's MAD and just delays your spell progression (as well as potentially locking you out of the highest level spells depending on how many levels you invest, particularly in a level capped game like BG3)...
...however...
A two or three level dip into Sorcerer plus the Metamagic Adept feat gets you Sorcery Points and enough Metamagics to make all of your Wizard spells far more potent and Arcane Recovery helps you get more mileage from Font/Flexible.
I think this could make for a really fun Wild Magic Sorc/Conjurer Wiz. If we get 14 levels, I'd go 3/11 Sorc/Wiz. Dump Cha and just take non-combat Sorc spells since Sorc is my lowest level.
Wizards are intelligence casters thus making them the smartest in the party if you make one, and are the only class currently in the game that uses intelligence as their main modifier.
Pros to playing a wizard: Learn 2 spells every time they level up. Can learn spells by copying scrolls into their spell book. They get the most spell slots because they can recharge their spell slots with arcane recovery. They learn the most spells so they are the swiss army knife of casters, they have a spell for every situation.
Cons to playing wizard: Very little health (shared with sorcerers) and they don't get many unique class features compared to every other class.
Pros to playing a Sorcerer: Very charismatic so they make an excellent face for the party because charisma is their spellcasting modifier. They make excellent blasters and they can modify their spells in unique ways thanks to metamagic, which only they get. They can target multiple targets with one spell in one spell slot thanks to metamagic, make spells have longer range, turn a spell form an action to a bonus action or any other number of useful ways so they can get more bang for their buck. Wild magic sorcerers are a lot of fun.
Cons to playing a Sorcerer: Same low health as a wizard. The spells they learn are limited so players absolutely NEED to know what type of spells they want. Players can screw themselves by choosing the wrong spells because they won't be able to change them until the next time they level up. Wild magic sorcerers can screw themselves and the party when a spell doesn't work right.
ah nice.. that means charisma is needed to also make youre spells better..
it sounds now that wizard is better as a first try so you can try out spells and know what you like/dislike...
sorcerer sounds fun to but im afraid i pick the wrong thing cause i have never played this game though i own it.
