Why no Orcs/Half-Orcs..?

I was going to give this game another shot, but I was immediately reminded of two things I really dislike about it.

First off, I don't like the companions. I was hoping the additional companions uncovered by data miners were going to be added sooner or later, but right now I'm suspecting they're canned, or at least delayed indefinitely. But that's not my main issue.

I was planning on making an Orc, or more likely a Half-Orc, with a class focused on melee and tanking.

But then I go into character creation, and see that there are still plenty of my favorite races missing, not just Half-Orcs, but Aasimar and Dragonborn as well.

I get that they probably can't add all of the races I want to see in the game, but Half-Orcs are such an iconic staple of the PnP version of D&D that I at least assumed they would be coming at some point.

I have lots of races to choose from, but most of them just aren't what I'm interested in playing. The only option I find even remotely palatable is Tiefling, but that still makes me wish we had more extraplanar descendants to pick, like Aasimar or the various types of Genasi.


Tl;Dr: Why doesn't this game have Half-Orcs already? Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 had Half-Orcs.
Is there any indication at all that we'll see Half-Orcs as a racial option once the game leaves early access? Have the devs actually made a statement about this, be it affirmative or negative..?

That has been adressed so many times, it gets boring after a while. So, I'll make it short:

If it's in the PHB, it will be in the game. If it's not in the PHB, it will not be in the game (excluding Gith). If what's in the PHB is not there yet, it will be at a later date. Aasimar and Genasi are not part of the PHB. Half-Orcs are.

Minsc and Jaheira are confirmed as companions. Beyond that, not sure who else we'll be able to recruit.

As Replicant said, Half-Orcs are definitely going to be in the game.

It has already been said by Larian that all PHB races will make it in, but also we've seen 2 half orcs in videos so we know that some models already exist in game.

You said they weren't in the game at all. That's what I was answering.

Edit: Half orcs are also in the 5e PHB. So they will be playable.

They’re on page 35 under races, right after half elf’s and right before tieflings

I honestly want some Orc armor. More Fur and no pants. Something that fits their lifestyle.
