Great Weapon Fighting or Sword and Board

I've always been playing without a shield for Lae'zel and will always take big damage without that extra 2 AC. When I don't have to worry about that I'm back with the Great Weapon, I'm with a shield most of the time now.

Heading back to clean up areas that I'd missed and the Owl bear fight decided to do a frontal attack, not cheesing the fight to see how much damage I would get at 21 AC. My paladin sits at 22 AC and most attacks on him are missed. First swipe the Owl bear did 12 damage to Lae'zel and that was it.

Everyone plays differently but I'm leaning on sword and board more often now and will get the full adamantine gear for Lae'zel later.

I totally understand what you saying. This party is with my Trickery Cleric and I'm using Lae'zel as the tank. In most playthroughs since the start of EA I've never used a shield for Lae'sel and now for boss fights that have changed. Same thing with the minotaurs, shield in hand and she can hold her ground without dying with support.
