Daylight spell
Anyone found use for it? it doesn't do anything vs darkness infact if someone casts darkness on you, the games doesn't even let you cast daylight spell... so what gives? Am i missing something? Why use it instead of cantrips that we can get from classes/races/items?

Without giving spoilers, there is an optional fight in act 3 that this spell is extremely useful for. It mitigates a very powerful boss ability.

Came in very handy for some trials of Shar. You don't have to do things her way.

when you have to deal with the shadow curse you can cast daylight, which as of now lasts until a long rest, and just run around normal like, at least it has worked so for, not sure if it works further in but had gotten me to the Harper safe haven

Actually both light, daylight and Lathander's blood's light do not work a 100% even in the lesser cursed part. Sometimes for some reason they stop working and you have to "unsheathe the weapon" in order for it to work again. It is an annoying issue. Also the Daylight spell works wonders against the Shadows, as it both blinds them, and their shadow blend is revealed.

Act 2 idea did not work for me. Casted it on a weapon, and where spell text says until long rest, the spell had a 15 turn timer on the weapon. Sent a bug report to see if this was as intended.

If you cast the spell on someone's sword and they then draw a bow, the light will disappear. You have to switch back to the sword again. (Good idea for anyone with a shield too, otherwise the shield passive will not trigger while the bow is drawn.)

What I haven't tested is using the same spell on both weapons. Since it's "until long rest" and not a concentration spell, it might just work. "You get a daylight spell, and YOU get daylight spell, and so do you!"
I just cast the spell on one of the characters, and its stays on until they either die, shape change or long rest.

Sadly it seems that somewhere between 2E and 5E, the "False Dawn" cleric spell was replaced with "Daylight". A totally sad joke of very, very limited use.

Occasionally you'll find that some undead and shadow-types are sensitive to daylight, might suffer -1s for being caught in it, but it's nothing like it used to be back when D&D writers knew how to to write.
