Hey all, here's an arguably better wiki than the ad-riddled commercial one:

https://bg3.wiki/

Hope you enjoy!

Fextralife is company aiming to get profit for themselves? And getting owernship of the material put there?

My interested to is minimal, but that is the impression I got when a while back cliked few links in fextralife (about, terms of use or such).

And there is BG3 wiki in fextralife. So I am guessing that was the reference.

Yes, exactly. If you write anything on their wiki, your work becomes their property. Basically you become an unpaid worker for their company... I'm a bit pedantic about things like this and find that quite unethical.

Maybe they do great things for the gaming community too, I dunno. Their BG3 wiki is the only thing I know them for. So, not hating on them or anything, just really don't like their wiki terms and conditions.

Apart from that, I find their entire UI quite clunky. The "twitch integration" thing keeps floating on the left side and plays videos I don't care about. And if you don't use an ad-blocker it even auto-plays video ads apparently. All in all not a great experience. Heard many others complain about the same thing.

I just styled up our own wiki a bit and it's looking real sleek and crisp now with the new background. <3

I don't picture it like this at all. Creating content in those site comes mostly from benevolent people which don't ask to be paid to do it. You don't do stuffs only because you are paid to do so, otherwise this EA won't be here, mods won't be here and wiki content neither.

In the return it is nice that the wiki does not claim owership of you work and try to get paid themselves for it. Like real wikis do not. Content created by benevolent people should be free always for all, not for benefit of one company. Of course you have freedom to decide otherwise.

In any case, Fextralife is view botting their Twitch channel by embedding the stream on every pages of their wiki. I'd say that is a good enough reason NOT to use it.

The sad part is fextralife is popular and some games do not have any other website to search for information. So it's either ask question on steam forum or reddit and hope You will get CORRECT answer. Plenty of misinformation and people spread it like a plague.

The website is clunky and the whatever twitch stream autoplaying is so freakin annoying... and fextralife has plenty of copy pasted, unfinished pages. some contain misinformations. (that are easly known to the community of whatever game).

It's kind of sad. I miss old guides and textbooks from games.
