The way I've ran the situation when it came up was not a fiend warlock but a celestial... Was to run a scene of Guardians of the Galaxy when they run into Ego. The planet was Ego and powered Ego and after Egos death the Celestials planet still powered the warlock without Ego directing the magic..... an open well of pooled ambient magic. (Warlock would eventually become Ego
Thanks for your agreement.
I think he was more of a lover,, then a fighter.
And by that I mean he used to be able to sweep people off their feet,, & have things his way with some persuasion? Using his tongue as a weapon,, but with an actual blade he probably was small & weak like a dagger.
Unlike all the real fighters with long swords,, halberds,, & spears! So if he did have any success as a fighter / soldier,, then it had to do with his charisma & family connections.
If Wyll isn't the "Blade of Frontiers" without his devil lady,, then he don't deserve the hero title anyways.
"You can take away all my tricks & toys,, but one thing you can't take away is that I am Iron Man." - Tony Stark. https://youtu.be/iqIPMdfpsHY
^ Good feedback that I think Larian should seriously take into consideration.
Nope,, it was told to me that Wyll's patron is part of a royal family of top-tier devils! She's pretty much a princess or something,, so if she dies then it wouldn't make sense that they ignored it.
My guess is they'll take control of his soul,, & punish him worse since they don't have a "loving" relationship like he does with her.
This might explain his desperate desire to save her,, it's more then just his freedom?! He knows that her demise will be his as well,, or being enslaved to an eviler master.
This is a great idea for Wyll,, where he can have a similar ending involving Avernus.
1.) There should be an ending scene where it reminds us of Kovu from the Lion King 2. 🦁😻 I don't know if you saw it,, but basically he gets "cancelled" & exiled for being the so-called villain.
There's lyrics that reminded me of Wyll,, where it said "Deception, disgrace,, evil as plain as the scar on his face." =(
2.) He should become a full-time fighting instructor that helps the next generation of heroes? Maybe he got to work for the flaming fist again,, & this time leaves a better first & last impression? I could imagine him having an ending similar to that Bruce Lee movie,, which you can see here. 👈
3) Last but not least,, he has to have a true hero's ending involving self-sacrifice & possibly passing the torch (aka) "blade?" I even wrote an example on how you can kinda do this,, which was a topic about killing all of the companions lol. https://steamcommunity.com/app/1086940/discussions/0/3766732914511937379/
You could write how he died in a blaze of glory,, where he didn't cower or make deals with a devil this time to survive! Regardless this has to be an option for his epilogue,, where he's even sent to the celestial plane depending on his actions in the game.
How about you bring back the original voice actor for Wyll,, but he'll be a non-companion that's part of a DLC? It could be where "Tav" & our party can visit a broadway play, & he'll be acting as Wyll for the Baldurian audience.
While the real one is watching his performance, & saying how the actor is nothing like him whatsoever lol. Now If this sounds not interesting...then at least watch this video before deciding if it's something you can see for BG3.

^ Imagine both Wyll & Laezel as spectators, being portrayed by other people? (This maybe all happens after defeating the final villains, & there's a celebration with various events happening.)
Marvel did something similar in two of their own Thor movies, which you can also watch the scenes if you click here.
