Companions on the Nautiloid Ship.
Do you think it would be a bad or good idea,, if they added more scenes & areas to the tutorial section?? Specifically where we're able to pick the companion we want to meet first instead of later.

For example I know that Wyll isn't introduced until after the tutorial ends,, but what if that didn't have to be the case?? What if going to one area lead you to him,, while locking you from meeting others like Laezel?

The story could still lead us in the same direction,, but will have different scenarios depending on who we met first?? Because in my opinion I think all the origin characters should be recruitable asap,, which adds replayability to the tutorial section too.

Rather then always being the same thing each playthrough,, where I'm sure most will use mods to skip it all?? At least with this though,, I think some will be curious to know the differences,, & consider doing it again.

What are your thoughts everyone,, & should it be suggested to Larian or not?? Maybe it's just a little too late,, but I don't mind a delay for adding this.

It's interesting. Their community managers read the forums, so this is probably getting noticed; but I doubt things will change drastically in terms of story this close in development. I believe the best you might hope for is the approval rating boost and change in demeanor like they did with Shadowheart. If the idea is even implemented... or maybe it was planned from the start... time will tell
Given that you'll be able to start with all origin chars, I wouldn't think it's to unreasonable to think there might be slightly different starts for all of them. So far we just have seen the custom char start. So it would be entirely possible, and they wouldn't need/want to show these starts pre 1.0 for spoilers etc.
But it's entirely possible we won't get a different start for each char.
In Dos2, you met all origin chars on the starter ship, though, so something like that wouldn't be unheard of for Larian.

I've already seen mods that unlock the origin characters to play as, Lazal does meet another gith instead at her meeting point so I'm sure other things will change by not playing a custom character.
Honestly, I think it doesn't add anything to he game.

So you meet a character at a different point in time, extra work but it doesn't add to the game in terms of features, quests, or anything of substance.

That would be a good compromise. 🤝

Or maybe they didn't plan it at all,, yet because of my topic they decided to add it?? The world may never know...

You're temping me so bad to post the dumb & dumber clip where he says,, "So you're telling me there's a chance??" But it's been done to death,, & have already posted enough links on here lol.

I didn't know that,, & want to know more info about this other Gith?? Could you share anymore details,, like if it has a name at least.

Well I hope the majority doesn't think like you,, or else the chances are even lower that it will happen.

Unless Larian doesn't care what they think,, & will just do it if they personally like it or something?? 🤔

It's not a major character just someone to replace her if you're playing as Lazel I'm sure they die on the ship, What I'm saying is playing as an origin character will add small changes like this one I'm sure, Not to mention the relationship dynamics you can possibly change like making Lazel and Shadowheart friends for example another thing to add we never meet certain characters on the ship so who's to say that's where their stories start?

Call it a hunch, but I would assume they'll likely be expanding the tutorial zone in full release. After all, they were saying they want new content to be available even for the old hands when the game comes out, and DoS 2's intro level introduced all the companions, so I wouldn't exactly be shocked if the same happened when similar circumstances apply.

I certainly think it would be fun if, *maybe,* playing a different class could affect where on the Nautiloid you wake up. Not even a unique location for every class, just like. Say, martials grouped in one area, casters grouped in another, hybrid classes in a third. It'd lend just a little bit more replayability to that prologue.

Maybe even that would affect which companions you meet- perhaps Lae'zel and Shadowheart could be required characters to meet, but you pass Wyll, Gale or Astarion depending on where you woke up? It would certainly lend something to Astarion's accusation that he saw the PC scampering around the ship.

Okay,, thanks for your answers droggen.

This would show that the Mindflayers are really organized,, including where they decide to put their prisoners.

Lore-wise I think it would make sense too,, so I like your idea & would love to see it happen!

It's not a "hunch",, it's a spoiler. 😉

When are you going to admit that you secretly work for Larian,, "Excalibur?!"

i was thinking this too, it would create different playthroughs, it wouldn't feel like the same thing over and over, because you know there's like 5 companions and mixing & matching would make it unique, in how they react to you when seeing you off ship, or how they react to how you saved them when on the ship. it could even give a lil boost to their approval of you if you saved them, and if you saved all of them, you could just send the extra two or 3 if you get "us" (the brain) from the dead(basically dead) guy from the chair, to the helm.

There is far too much evidence to not guess that the nautilloid tutorial will be changed with more possible companion early meet/unlocks.
1. Swen as already said that the beginning of Act 1 will be changed by a lot
2. You will be able to play most early companion's origins on the Naughtiloid on launch
3. There are mods/datamining that already prove the above

There are still the questionable companions that we are unsure we can play the origins of
Halsin, Karlach, Jeheira, MInsc. The latter 2 being the least possible.

You can find out easily yourself. Just choose a new game and pick Lae'zel as your char and find out. You will quickly know the answer.

Yeah I knew that,, but I'm not talking about using them as an MC.

Swen confirmed that Minsc & Jaheira aren't origin characters,, yet just regular companions instead.

I don't own the game,, which is why I asked him for the juicy details. 🤤

How exactly did you find this topic,, did you just search for "companions on mindflayer ship?"

I'm simply curious,, because this is the first time someone other than myself has necroed my topic lol.

Ahh. Yeah, I missed that. Buy it. If you like that type of game or have played DOS2. I think it will be a awesome game based on my experience in the EA.

And no reason to hide that info with a spoiler tag. lol.

Somewhere on my profile page will give you the answer on why I still haven't bought it lol. https://steamcommunity.com/id/wosm

So if you've got nothing better to do with your time,, then let's see if you could figure it out. Hint hint,, look for the spoilers.

Okay I promise not to use spoilers for that ever again,, & no I'm not secretly crossing my fingers behind my back. 🤞

You'll see that I'm a man of my word,, even though you're probably like "Not necessary Wes,, but thanks for the kind gesture?" Okay what you're really thinking is, "And this is why I don't talk to him,, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ weirdo." lol.
