Can't change gender when starting new game

recently update to patch 9 on mac m1, clicking on gender sign does nothing and it's always a girl. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Try to remove all your mods from the mod folder and restart the game.
That's what was causing the bug for me when this patch was just launched.

You’re stuck with the gender you were born with for BG3.

Do you see the male/female symbol above the character? It's not all that obvious but the symbol is a button.

I think they're generally used as sexes.

I don't bother to get that precise unless others do first. In casual conversation, most people use gender/sex interchangeably.

Hi! I removed all mods and even the folder "mods" itself. It didn't help. I reinstalled the game. It didn't help. Maybe I look in wrong folder: data/LarianStudios/bg3/mods? I still have problem and can't choose the gender and each time I try to open Inventory the game switch off. Any other thoughts? Any other ideas how to help? I'm desperate right now :(

Are you sure you aren't confused between the options.
when customising your looks you have a option for male/female/non binary. this does NOTHING for your looks. you need to look at the bottom right i believe it was. where there's green little square buttons with numbers on them. those change your characters body

In the lower right corner is 4 small rectangle boxes to pick body type.
