Even putting aside my personal desire to see the entire chain-system (aka "toilet chain controls") thrashed once and for all in favor of more traditional "drag and select", the game is in dire need of some formation control, for a start.
One where you can decide where everyone is positioned relatively to the party when you move the entire group and STAYS there unless instructed otherwise, no matter how many times you separate the link or re-establish it.
Does reordering your party on the left hand side of the screen change the formation they stand in?
Been trying to figure that one out
Is it a quirk, more specifically, with the game engine Larian uses?
I think UI functionality is just something they don't prioritize compared to, say, writing and cinematics.
We got them to make multiple updates to the UI so far (it's in a much better state than it was at launch), but they haven't altered the "toilet chain" system, so who can tell how much more work they'll do on it or not?
Inventory also needs a lot of work too.
I just want party order to be consistent across all systems.
I will say that the UI is vastly improved over when I first played early access back in the first week it was available. Hopefully more quality of life changes like this continues to get added to those already good changes.
Not true, (as of today at least) you can drag the portraits to reorder them, just it's very buggy. Seems like you have to first drag the portrait of the character you want to move to the top of the list and a gray square will appear under the portrait indicating it will be moved. Then, without letting go of it, you can drag it to the position you want, (the gray square underneath the portrait will move and when you let go, the portraits will be reordered).
Once the portraits are reordered however, the characters won't change their in-game positions in the party formation until you toggle group mode off and then back on.
Hope this helps anyone who stumbles across this.
Also, in the future I'd avoid replying to old threads since the game will likely have changed since.
If it's already been said in this post, sorry.
If you're having trouble reorganizing your party view character positions.
Just order them from top to bottom (Left to right in party view) on the left of your screen, then press F5, wait for quicksave to finish and then press F8.
The party view should now be reorganized to your heart's content.
[BUMP]!!!!!!!
Thanks, this works. Bump
