Barbarian Bear Heart
My first time playing a Barbarian / Bear Heart, I chose Tiefling for fire resistance. At first, I thought nothing special. By the time I hit level 4, I got interested in this character. Bear Heart I find is really helping in taking hits and I had no problem with the Githyanki patrol. Just tanked it with a few heals from Shadowheart and all was good.

Picked up the Githyanki Great Sword and with Searing Smite from racial ability will be interesting to see how much damage this character can do.

Barbarian I would say is one of the most powerful classes in the game.

With auntie’s hair, I got my strength to 18 and constitution at 16.

You should really try the Berserker subclass for tons of BONK´s + throwing stuff at enemys.

Since you cant really force the enemy to only attack your barb, i think a good offence is even better than bear heart.
If they dont add fatigue, there will be no reason to play a fighter on full release...Barbarian is just too busted.

So what is the point of this thread? Might be you forgot to ask question or you want to discuss something?:

Thanks for the reply. I will try the Berserker subclass at some time for sure! I watched a YT video on Barbarian and liked that the Bear Heart subclass can take a lot of damage and would be a good tank and this is why I rolled it.

You just described your character :) I don't see any point in this thread.
So if every of thousands players will create topic about his character this forum will become a mess.

So the branch is called "discussions". Meaning that would be likely to have some topic to discuss. So I'm asking again: did you wanted to discuss something, or it is a "showroom" of your achievement, creating barbarian and leveling it to 4? :D

We need an Option to Loot Corpses... Like, Pick up an entire corpse and add it to our inventory!

So I can live out my dream of a Barbarian, who walks around with a Goblin Corpse in his Bag, which he uses to smash things with "Improvised Weapon"! :D

Bear isn't very good in all honesty. The heal is a full action, so you basically get to choose if you're going to heal a small amount or wreck the enemy.

Once you consider that healing potions exist, the Bear heal becomes just about entirely moot.

You do get some extra elemental resistances as Bear, which makes your tiefling choice for fire resistance moot since it doesn't stack, but in all honesty those extra resistances are mostly not that big of a deal since you generally have pretty good saves versus damage spells anyway. The searing smite you unlock as Zariel might be attractive, but it's cost is absurdly high for such a middling ability that also requires concentration (rage breaks concentration.)

To each their own, of course, but I feel like Bear just isn't as attractive as Wolf (perma advantage) or Eagle (dash bonus action / disadvantage on attacks of opportunity).

Bear is certainly the most durable Barbarian in my opinion, but it's overkill durability in just about every situation at the expense of doing more damage. Additionally, since you can't really control who gets targeted, frequently your Barbarian resistances don't matter anyway since they'll be trying to nuke your healer or mage.

Interesting, maybe in full release I might go for Eagle or Beserker. This is my first play through as a Barbarian and so many choose from will take some time. I find the Barb kind of OP and if the other subclasses are better... will find out.

I just checked out my barb and sure enough, the Searing Smite will cancel out once I use rage. Next time when I play a barb will choose another race.

Barbarian is very effective early on since they get all of their best functionality in the first five or so levels. Beyond that, it's subclass dependent, and we don't know what tweaks might be in store for the 6th level subclass features, as several for Wildheart are exploration-focused per 5e RAW.

Berzoinker is good if you're really into the DPR arms race, otherwise the others are more fun.

Play what you want, play how you want.

Personally, I really like Tiger and Eagle.
