Bought the game. Everything on the ship was very smooth and stable. But after the crash of the ship, in some places the fps drops quite a lot. 3060ti. Am I the only one?

No you’re not the only one, in some areas i get 70-80 fps and in other areas i get as low as 55 fps on my 3070ti

We should hopefully get some performance patches near release. You could also try upping the dlss

Why would you even use DLSS? A 3070ti is plenty enough to run the game at native 4k.

lol nope, im on dlss quality at max settings 1440p and im getting mostly 60fps or near to it in populated areas. It will run 4k but my fps goes into the 40s if in populated areas.

in less trafficked areas i will get upto 90fps tho.

With a 6700xt I'm pegged at 60 @1440 native. 3070ti is a stronger card, so maybe nvidia driver issue.

yea it needs a performance patch for sure

You really might want to try without DLSS. I believe I saw discussion about it somwhere. DLSS was the problem itself for low FPS.

I haven't run this for a while with my 1080ti, but I believe I did not have such low FPS on any setting either 1440p or 4k.

just tested without dlss and it doesnt even look like dlss is doing much at all.

I check larian forum this night, almost everyone has some sort of performance issue. In general, the game works fine for me, but there are serious fps drops in certain places. I don't think my pc is the problem. I'll go through ea once, and I'll wait for the release. People on the same forum wrote that in early access, dos2 lags even worse)

how many fps do you need? this is not FPs:) All you need is lock you fps and play a stable rate at least for me.

The ups and downs are the main problem i locked my fps to 55 cos the that's the lowest i get in 4k maxedout... and it's in the burning inn with all the fires smoke and whatnot. if didin't lock it it would be all over the place well over 60+ in other places and down to 55 ish in the in.. and that range is what could makes it chopy. But hey that's EA i think it runs great for EA depanding on the patch that is... Some patches were better other not so much i guess i would say this one is ok for me at least both APIs work this time around hehe

I play in 60. But in some places fps drops hard. 30-40. In burninng inn i have stable 60. First fight with goblins, when some dudes with horns cant open gate - in this fight i have fps drops.

well i would try new drivers and both APis make sure you are not runing somekind off weird mode i think there was a new driver release last week...

I fired up this with my Ryzen 9 5950x + 1080 ti computer and ran some tests with 4k and 1440p. I still do not get drops like yours, but what I noticed that this really really stresses now one CPU thread. Test were done with ultra and high presets.

Worst core of 5950x is just about to hit 100%. it goes around 80% to 95% for one core. That is quite much. If running with any slower CPU it would hit 100% and could cause lag spikes and FPS drops to start.

Instal hwinfo64 and monitor value called "Max CPU/Thread Usage". If that is close to 100% you are suffering condition called "not enough CPU power".

Only hope is that Larian can optimize single thread usage to multiple threads or something. I guess there is change as I would claim that this has gotten worse...

Edit. This actually surprises me a lot. Last time did this check was intel 9900k and 4k. Cpu st load was below 50% all the time. Either this game does not like ryzen or something truly has happened to cpu load.

Thanks for the answer. This is strange. I have a ryzen 5 2600. Not the strongest processor. But I run games with much stronger graphics without problems. And some people with a much weaker configuration - have no problems that I have (but have another). My computer is at least several times stronger than larians declared as recommended. Well, as I understand it, the first battle with the goblins at the gate lags for almost everyone (only the cutscene lags for me). In any case, I haven't tried everything I could yet. Tomorrow when I get home from work I will change directx to vulcan. I'll set up windows, overclock my processor (fortunately, the ryzens overclock perfectly). I will write if any of this solution helps me.

I fired up the game to look at thread usage. I would not call this anything like a "test." However, 1440 ultra with a 2700x using Vulkan: in the underdark I was generally under 50% cpu usage, one thread occasionally getting to the 70's.
