Maybe you are not acclimated to PC top/down camera that's why you are struggeling a lot.
Just click to move and use WASD to move the camera + QE to rotate your camera, you need to change your habit cause you are not used to this system, I know changing such thing can be hard.
Concerning New World it's a TP camera, nothing in common with a Top/Down like BG3 and the DOS serie.
Oh, and you can lock the camera on a character, it will folow it when you move the character.(You will just need to rotate it like you said)
Or wait for controller support, I guess this will be the easier solution for you.
But NOT because the game wasn't enough of a "third person action game" like the Op is asking here.
I couldn't give a flying ♥♥♥♥ about "WASD movement" and looking up with the camera, frankly.
What I want is being able to select and control the entire party (or portions of it) without feeling the occasional urge to punch the screen.
This game has been in early access for two years and they been reinventing the Inventory system and UI system BUT NO ONE SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THE CAMERA/CHARACTER MOVEMENT SYSTEM?!!!!! That is just insane, the camera/movement should be fluid and NOT something the player has to think about!
I just cant believe this and OH, why is there no choice to play on PC using a CONTROLLER?
I have played other single player games on PC and not once did I think about my character movement or camera.
This really is disgraceful on Larin's part, period, full stop!
Its such a shame!!! Yes, I can get used to it and in short play time bouts I can get through it but man, its.......
But then this is the forum that has attempted to nit pick every single possible small detail all the way down to the marrow of the bone to complain about this thing at times, so this isn't unbelievable to see in that regard.
You don't think you're a little entitled here? You swear that every 9-10/10 game has a flawless camera. Reality check, they don't. Camera has been an issue in most games since games operating in the 3d space were invented. Mario 64 amazing game, bad camera. Zelda games, bad camera. wolfenstien, doom? BAD CAMERA. yet that doesn't stop a game from being good.
Why don't you fix the camera for them?
So that's your answer, why don't I do it? Hey, maybe I should write my own games as well!?!
And no, all games don't have camera problems, this is the first game I've played with such a horrible camera/movement issue. Never have I played a game on PC and had to worry about my CAMERA! The dam camera has a life of its own sometimes, does thinks I don't want it to do, things I did not initiate!
I tried to return the game but since i played 14 hours, they denied me, next time I will buy my games on GOG, they let you return up to 30 days!!!
It never ruined my experience with this game.
I would love to be able to look up. Just a little? 15 degrees?
I absolutely hate the camera, but given the scope of the game (it's already huuuuuuge) and the fact that it's in EA, I'll reserve judgement until launch. After that, I agree that it'll be hard to defend. +1 on the "just look up" suggestion. Feels like I'm wearing a robot outfit made of cardboard boxes.
