Wyll is an idiot.
Title. Wyll has no logical reason not to let Volo shove an ice pick into his brain. Sure, he says "I only have one eye" but all that means is he has an empty eye hole that provides easier access and no risk. I get for story reasons Wyll is making that choice, but all that means is for story reasons Wyll has been written as an idiot.

He has an empty eye hole and benefits from charisma, Volo Provides an eye that increases his charisma and reduces his already nonexistent intelligence, this is an absolute win for him, why must you torment me so Larian studios.

Well… Volo kinda looks like he doesn’t know what he’s doing. My take is you’d have to be an idiot to let him anywhere close to you with an icepick. Not sure what the lore is here but from what I saw the man is a buffoon.

Wyll seems to be an idiot too but that would be a wise decision on his part.

Edit: On another note what’s the story’s obsession with eye replacements? And we’re still just in Act I

So I doubt Wyll, or anyone in general, would allow the icepick bit to happen, as that is just survival instincts. Wyll has two eyes, and he is hardly going to part with his Sending Stone eye to literally plug in Volo's useless one (not that Volo parts with it willingly).

So what about anything you said in your OP, paints Wyll as an '"idiot"?

Wyll has a very good reason to not lose an eye. Sounds like you didn't really explore his character arc.

Wait a sec, Wyll has one good eye he can't lose, and the other eye is pretty special too.

Cyroy knows.
I don't take Volo's deal, or Ethel's, or Omeluum's for that matter.

Nothing can remove the parasite at this stage of the game, and a paltry stat boost is worthless to me, especially as I will be rolling my stats in the final game. The trade off isn't worth it.

It does seem you're lacking a bit of knowlege on the topic.

I'm curious what it means if you make a deal with the hag though.

Doesn't the icepick lobotomy give you -1 Wis?

Wyll relies on charisma as Warlock, so that one point less Intellect doesnt really hurt.

She can use the eye to watch you. I play a Wis -2 character so I took the deal. Mechanically it’s been bugged for ages so it just gave me a penalty and nothing more last I played.

Without knowing the recent updates when I played it did nothing. Reported it but a couple of updates down the line it still did nothing so I stopped checking. Was Ability Point +1 but never worked.

Lobotomy could be dangerous even if you're lacking an eye :)
