Why does Larian hate long swords?
Why are there so few long sword in the game? Come on, some of us like to use a long sword.

Some of up like to play a role playing game, not a math game where we play an optimized variable.

Phalar Aluve, longsword+1 or adamantine longsword. Which will it be?

Longswords are often the most common weapons in games like this. They were certainly the most prevalent magical weapon option in BG1-2. Makes sense to me that there's a bit of an effort being made to diversify weapon options a bit in BG3.

You can literall buy longswords / +1 versions at the first city and any other weapon type and +2 / elemental dmg weapons seems to be the "endgame" versions in the current D&D games like Solasta and so far BG3 too.

You can get a good long sword at the Nautiloud that is more than enough for the part of the game that is available now. You can find few long swords here and there as well.

+3 longswords are only very rare magic items, just like +2 plate or +3 shields. Nah, you'll see these items pop up in BG3.

I reckon, if BG2 is anything to go by, we'll see legendarys around level 10. BG1 handed out legendary tomes and manuals as early as level 2!
It's quite possible that Phalar Aluve has more powers than is initially evident.

I sincerely hope so. The flavor and pomp around it are delicious. I as disappointed that it was just a +1 and didn't have finesse or anything to set it apart. Definitely feels like it has potential in a quest or something.

it looks pretty maybe

The level of diplomacy in this request amaze me.

Had the same thoughts. Very strange when in EA endgame content you find just a +1 LS. Of course it could be like classic cliche reference scene to what we all know, a joke, but looks anyway suspicious.

Maybe quest-related to upgrade, or just not implemented, or removed as spoiler.

IMO Versatile hammers are a better version of versatile swords because of more interesting damage type :P And they are implemented quite good.

As for slashing damage — versatile battle axes are looking more badаss.

Aren't you confusing Greatsword with Lonsword?
Because there are a plenty of those in game.

Agreed. I've been playing this (BG3) game for a good time now. And still I haven't found any decent (enhanced) long swords. Kind of a disappointment to see the main character still wielding a battle worn blade, while the rest can get their hands on something more spiffy.
