Why does everyone hate Gale?
I've been playing the game, and he honestly reminds me of Alistair from Dragon Age: Origins, which is a good thing. Sure he's a little mysterious, but that's everyone at the moment.

Do people not like his personality, or it is a story thing? (No spoilers, obviously.)

Wasn't he one of the more popular love interests in the data collection? I think he's fine if you can get over his overbearing attitude in the beginning.

I feel like they've toned down his personality, but I'm not sure. Or maybe I've gotten used to it. He also wasn't so oddly creepy towards Shadowheart this time around. I feel like I've been gaslit. I need to revisit again x_x

He's definitely the same voice actor who also voiced Alistair.

Going from what I read others say about Gale, apparently he is secretive, selfish, untrustworthy, rude... and so on. Also he needs artifacts to live, which some people really hate for some reason.

Personally I love all companions and don't find them to be bad whatsoever. Gale to me is just a realistically written person with problems, just like all the rest of the companions are.

His backstory is ridiculous. The worst kind of "I'm 12 and this is my first character" tier.

He eats your magic items and you do not even get to choose wich one from your inventory freely. You just get three random items to choose from from all your items and then the next time he wants one an item you know you had in your inventory before shows up in the list. Could at least let us feed him the crap items if they want us to live with such an annoying quirk.

I guess its not grounded enough for you, if only he was a hobo that learned magic by stealing book from a library, that would be top notch mature writing

I didn't test it, but I guess drop important to you items from inventory would work?

Gale may have not grown at all beyond 12. He even says he conjured a tressym as a child. As a prodigy Gale suffers what most prodigies face, no-one actually cares you are a prodigy and on top of that Gale has the worst narcissistic social skills.
