I also think you miss out of on some content if you make camp for the 1st time and already have all the companions in your group.
Yes, I noticed that too, which is lame. Also if multiple characters have something to say about a story element only one gets the chat bubble and actually says something (which wasn't the case in DOS2, so I'm not sure why it is here).
Certain story events seem to set off the scenes, and you have to be careful to camp before you set off other character's scenes. I think in my current run Astarion's scene after you find the boar knocked off one of Gale's events because of the order I did things in.
I just wanna get the weave scene for once, but Gale's seem to be the easiest to miss and/or override.
But... still won't be surprised if it goes unfixed.
So far, haven't found that to be the case on any other camp night, but I'll keep checking...
The way it's paced, the fact that it's instanced in a separate pocket dimension rather than taking advantage of suitable spots on the map, the whole notion of "Our camp gets more and more elaborated over time" (that clashes spectacularly with the idea that we would be a ragtag team of adventures on the move) AND the idea that "companion story progression" can only happen at arbitrary points in time during said camping.
All of this seems unnecessarily convoluted, resource-intensive and yet at the same time spectacularly ineffective in maintaining full immersion with the pretense of the story.
It's a pain in the ass to even access it to check for events, so yeah, hugely immersion breaking if you're actually trying to catch all the scenes.
Agree on all the other points too, but even so, if the events would just happen anyway and I didn't have to work so hard to try not to miss them I wouldn't mind as much.
In fact, pretty much the opposite. The systems I’d be referring to would be PF (camp anywhere there’s enough room) or to a lower degree of complexity for implementation the one used in Solasta (“from time to time you’ll cross pre-existing spots that are viable for camping and make use of these”).
Incidentally the latter would be relatively easy to implement in BG3, given that the game map is ALREADY littered with dozens of small abandoned camping sites that, if the game didn’t have the current obtuse system in place, would look almost as if they were placed PRECISELY with that goal in mind. Maybe an ongoing conflict/debate among devs? Who knows.
Still, the main point stands: you are talking as if I was proposing something impractical that wouldn’t work, when I’m actually suggesting systems already used elsewhere that were both cheaper to implement and BETTER than what BG3 is currently doing.
I like this idea. What's stopping our party from commandeering all of the campsites we encounter that are abandoned? Nothing! Imagine the opportunities for random encounters if that becomes a thing.
WHY have you not made a thread about this in the Suggestions and Feedback Forum so Larian can fix this?
Go ahead, give me a good reason... Don't worry, I'll wait.
I'm gonna ignore how like goofy and hostile the tone of this is and just say... I don't expect anyone who's working on the game to read what I say no matter where I put it. 99% of what you guys do is whine, cry, ♥♥♥♥, piss and troll. Why would anyone from Larian or Larian adjacent spend time sifting through the trash that is posted daily? It's worse than reddit when it comes to what "fans" of this game are posting. :T
I'm asking if anyone knows if they've said anything about it or if there's a mod, then I described the issue so it was clear what I was referencing. Use your precious little eyes to read the first sentence of the post.
This coming from one with your name.
You do not have to ignore anything. I have done more bug hunting and anomaly work for Larian than I am sure you even give a sh*t about. That being said, you apparently know little and nothing about our work. Your words show this. "Why would anyone from Larian or Larian adjacent spend time sifting through the trash that is posted daily? It's worse than reddit when it comes to what "fans" of this game are posting." WE do, thank you, in the Suggestions and Feedback Forum, NOT the General one. In that forum, there are actually threads typically of worth, unlike here in General. Larian actually looks in that one and we have seen the results of our words from their hotfix and patch notes.
But you didn't bother to look, research, or care to try to find out about any of that, so you threw false BS our way, and thought you were a Boss. Well, guess what, Boss, your Fired.
