tier list is quite subjective, but i say the following IMO:

S:
Paladin - Charisma base class, pretty much mean you are party face for all social checks. And he can wear plate armor with good HP increase per level so he can be tanky. Divine smite also good very good burst damage, and have lay on hand which can give you heal as well without using spellslots. pretty much he can do anything

A:
Warlock - Charisma base class, another good option for party face. With Eldritch Blast and invocation you can be quite a strong single target DPS. Downside is you need to plan ahead of spells and invocation to take to plan it ahead. Not flexible
Sorcerer - Charisma base class, pretty much like warlock but differently.

B:
Cleric - Bless in early game is good, can heal and support. Also guidance cantrip is pretty much a permanent buff for lot of social encounter
Bard - Charismas base class, another good option for social encounter. DPS option is a bit lacking in compare to Paladin/Warlock/Sorcerer
Wizard - early game provide sleep for support (B tier), but once you got level 5 and unlock fireball. encounters like goblin camp is pretty much a walk in the park for you. Unfortunately there is no ritual casting in BG3 atm. kinda feel it lost one of the flexibility it got in table top version
Druid - kinda like cleric, good supports but also can be tank

C:
Rogue/Fighter/Ranger/Barbarian - good for killing... but feel lacking for anything else

Strange S to non-versatile class.
The only thing where paladins are better than other classes in EA is burst single target damage. And this potential is active only while you have enough spell slots. Easily replaced with any other martial character with no doubts.
Also they could be tanks, but in EA it's not necessary.

Imo I would give "S" grade to classes that are almost mandatory to any party i.e. classes without which your group will have a great blindspot in any game interactions.

And for this purpose I would offer Cleric/Druid, well, maybe also Bard. As at least 1 slot. All other slots are optional )

p.s. charts doesn't make sense at the moment while we don't have the full game

My personnal take on this :
The game have 5 NPC, 4 usefull : fighter, cleric, mage & thief (+ wyll : weak mage & weak fighter, never quite figured out the point of his character outside the little sidequest with goblins)

What you lack is a social character (charisma ++). The thief is quite unbearable IMO, and the mage lack a little bit of punch.

=> So for me the best 2 options are mage (the 2 classes casting on Charisma, I have a preference for dragon sorcerer) and second the thief, to get rid of astarion. Thief have the advantage of having MANY masteries, so you're gonna ace a lot of dice roll

Well you know that wyll is a warlock(not a mage/fighter) and as 16 in charisma (18 if you pick +2 stats at level 4)?

Not mandatory atm.
Most of 'social' cha checks now have other skillchecks alternatives.
Also you can always boost your chances with enhance ability / guidance / whatever.
S: Sorc, Warlock, Bard - Cha casters for the win
A: Druid, Rogue - Both very fun classes to play, with lots of utility
B: Cleric, Ranger - well at least they have range
C: The rest - Boring classes, mainly Melee, I dislike melee except for rogue

Total objective and serious list...;)

Anyone putting barbarian into anything other than A or S are just wrong, especialy berserker barbarian. Powerhouse in battle and has a lot of hillarious interactions, especialy with animal speak. And this come from someone who despises barbarian in any other DnD or Pathfinder game.

Barbarians are quite bold and straightforward "me take the club, beat the head" *Roars*.
It's fun when at least one character in your party is of a dumb bully archetype of course, but very subjectively.

like i said this will be totally subjective and just IMO. Paladin is pretty much a class can do everything. from Social encounter, to combat, support, tanking, and healing

other martial class can do damage, but as they are not Charisma based class. Cha is likely to be their dump stats.

I don't judge. Just explained my opinion about yours :P
With a little attempt to teleport from subjuctive plane to at least more objective.

As much I love CHA classes (sorc — the most picked character for me in dnd), the same much I think that CHA characters are not even close obligatory in this game (at least in EA).
Trying to be objective. Subjectively — of course redhead cute charismatic sorceress! :D

As my experiencem including tabletop — cleric (well, maybe wizard too) is the most common class I met.
Statistically the most demanded class would be close to "S" objectively.
Not sure if it's really cleric, but I bet it is.

Here is an in depth tier list about classes (minus paladin) : https://www.aestusguides.com/guides/baldur-s-gate-3-class-tier-list-and-guide

Barbarian is S tier because Frenzied Barbarian gets two throws a round to lob potions to buff/heal the party or disable enemies, your high strength means you can drop multiple barrels before lobbing an alchemist fire and frenzied gets advantage on barbarian intimidate checks which are hilarious.

Plus it's the only class in the game that can make fun of a bugbear's sexual prowess.

I believe Bards can do that too.
