Someone ever found Maul+1 in EA?
Because it's pretty cool too because of special ability. Maybe even the best.

As for 'Hamarhraft' — Faithbreaker would have almost the same average damage, but +1 attack.
But the skin is so beautiful and shinny... and I really love the AoE stomp XD
Also, faithbreaker is usually equiped by my beloved light cleric dwarf. It's just so nice to have a pushback with him without the need to grab adept druid for thunderwave...
This is accurate but you’re literally ONLY looking at damage per round assuming all hit.
SoJ vs Everburn for example
Everburn is 9.5 avg dam
SoJ is 8
But SoJ has +1 attack, so it hits more often, affecting average dpr.
So if an enemy has, let’s say, 17 AC
And you have 18 Str (+4 mod) and +2 prof bonus.
You’re talking about needing to roll an 11+ (50% hit) with Everburn
Vs
Needing to roll a 10+ (55% hit) due to the +1
So if you do 9.5 dpr at a 50% hit you’re looking at 4.75 dpr
Vs
8 dpr at 55% hit = 4.4 dpr
So you’re sacrificing a free cast bonus action +2 AC on the sword for an average of 0.35 dpr.
Now this is all hypothetical the averages will change with prof mod, AC of enemy, Str mod, etc etc
It does not even require saving throw. That might change in future. Everburn blade is obsolete as soon as you find any +1 GS. Damon in grove sells it.
Sword of justice is +1 and shield of faith needs concentration. Currently you can use shield of faith on Sword of Justice & unequip it.
An easy fix would be to not be able to use magic from an item that you are not proficient with I suppose.
Lae'zel can equip it to cast shield of faith & then you can ask her to stay at camp.
Should it work? Yes, technically. Well, people might recruit her for this buff only. :)
Yeah that should be adressed there is plenty of loop holes and exploits that can be done and yeah 6 months pass by fast and there is plenty to fix.
Wyll has a lot better options how to use concentration.
And also lightning staff works fine with him (or any other utility staff), so he has no free slots for a 2H weapons.
But you may use Astarion as Shield of Faith bot, using ranged weapons in combat. Dual crossbows are quite fine for him too.
I just brought primitive basic damage per hit chart )
And tbh those weapons are almost the same in terms of basic damage because difference in +/- 1.5 damage is quite irrelevant when it comes to really good utility options or vulnerabilities or +attack if you're lacking it (espetially if you're using GWM).
Now to answer original post. +1 enchantment item is always better. There is more, the description of magic weapon spell currently in game allows us to cast that spell on +1 GS already which becomes +2. Somethings are vulnerable to bludgeoning like one Minotaur & Grym. You can buy Maul +1 from Damon in Grove or from merchants in Goblin camp.
