I believe that glow repsresents the dispel effect of the wild magic surge hitting Minsc in the video.

(Same as in 2014 comic book Legends of Baldur's Gate 1: Tyranny of Dragons where Delina frees Minsc from stone)

I hope they brought Jim Cummings back to voice him. When people think of BG1 & 2 sure they think of the story of Bhaal, but when it comes to an actual face and a voice Minsc is at the top of the list. I hope to God and Sven that they brought Jim Cummings back to voice Minsc.

For me it was one of the first games I played that had regular voice acting throughout it compared to the grunts and cries of earlier games or just narration. If they're going to bring back such an iconic character from gaming history they need to do it right.

I remember doing that for other characters as well, or just letting them die, if they were part of a "pair" such as Montaron and Xzar or Khalid and Jaheira. At least in BG2 they were kind enough to kill off Dynaheir and Khalid for us.

Yes, changing Minsc's voice actor definitely wouldn't fly. One would think that Larian would understand that. There's some heavy breathing at the end of the trailer, I wonder if that's him, it's certainly possible.

Yeah i know and it stoped lots of fights from breaking out as well i always had to have edwina with me so i had to use tricks like that to keep them all in line!

Maybe this time on my evil playthough they will let me pickpocket his hamsters and lock him IN after that... Now that would be one poor and alone Minsc but i guess his use to it by now after all he was a statue lol.

Well i know that Jon Irenicus voice actor David Warner died this year so that was said. He was my fav archvillain ever... Jim Cummings isnt as old though so who knows maybe they did it.

I do not want to hang myself to the voice actor. Maybe Cummings is available. Maybe not.

It is not directly about the voice as much as the attitude. Other can do it if they find same attitude.

Irenicus would have been another throw away evil mage without that performance, plain and simple. And this was the early days of voice acting in video games as well. Sure there was a lot of cheese heavily throughout, but it was great.

I just hope they do Minsc justice regardless.

And THAC0... that's one mechanic I don't miss.

Minsc was one of the most popular companions in Baldur's Gate 1 and 2. A human ranger with a pet hamster. He had been hit on the head before meeting the player character and so isn't all right in the head.

He has a strong moral compass and thinks that his pet hamster, named Boo, is a miniature giant space hamster (which actually do exist in Wayfinder). His notable quotes are things like "Let us find evil and give its butt a good kicking!" "Go for the eyes, Boo, go for the eyes!"

According to lore, he was petrified after the events of Baldur's Gate 2 and had been a statue for around 100 years or so when a battle was taking place near him and some wild magic unpetrified him. One of the people fighting is a long-lived race and another potential companion in Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 who recognized Minsc the moment he comes to.

"Butt kicking. For goodness!!!"

And my favorite one: "Jump on your sword while you can, evil! I won't be as gentle!"
