Edit: also you can trade like value items for like value items.

It's not perfect, but honestly merchants in the wilderness outside the main city probably shouldn't have a ton of money lying around.

i see only 1 the halfling at the grove the other merchant the guy with the armor vanishes. there are were only 2 there. I have an inventory full of crap and your going to come on here and call me liar and not list any merchants. WTF man.

Bro.
Go to camp. Rest (Partial rest with no camp supplies)

All the money refreshes

Without trying to spoil anything, there are 3 merchants (with decent money) at the grove. You can also trade with non merchants as well (some of which have some unique items).

There's another merchant on the road, another in a camp you visit.

And several others.

Maybe because it makes the mechanics of the game seem more realistic? Hence the addition of the money cap.

You can actually have two traders in your camp (one undead creature released from the graveyard and one writer Volo), which is usually enough to handle the extra items you pick up.

Whats up with being greedy? That's annoying. Many things can be... annoying.
Why would you even believe there is a money cap, besides this is EA, of course.
Stealing much? Too greedy? How about you stop putting your game expectations on others. Not everyone is a thief or wants to play one. So what is next? You not getting caught enough? Merchants too slow on the uptake? They don't kill you fast enough if you engage them? Come on, might as well tell us all.

No, we are going to call you a bit of a idiot. There are other merchants at different locations, two specific ones in the main grove, as well as auntie ethel early on you can sell things too, AS WELL as going around to a couple of specific people and trading items to see if it covers the cost value. Also like someone else said already, you can trade items for their value rather than straight gold and going to camp and coming back refreshes their gold account, so this is LITERALLY NOT AN ISSUE in ANY WAY.
But by all means continue to whine about it, that is apparently all this forum is good for is people who want to whine non stop or create tons of trash threads for no reason.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Do people not barter in games anymore? I always trade junk for higher value items if a merchant lacks gold, that way I clear out my inventory and weight and gain a higher value item in return that I can either use or resell later, money isn't everything when trading.

As someone who has had a gigantic gold pile on me by the end of one or two of my EA runs, this is probably the smarter idea. My barbarian having that whole pile of gold on him was rather silly.

well added you to my block list. That is insane its loot man you loot and buy stuff with the loot. NOT ONE BG GATE game is like this. This main reason is why i do not like posting crap you have people like yourself on here grieving.

I DO NOT like when people FAN BOY A GAME. IT does not improve the game at all. IT make you look like an idiot. The three vendor are the Half-ling the second is the child theifling (see im playing the game) the 3 is the thiefling weapons smith when they leave that is it. If you know something about the money mechanics share it and stop trying to grief people. Use the internet as practice on working on social skills. if you like money mechanic give suggestions and that is it all LOL your going to try and troll me....REALLY!

Is BG GATE means Baldur'gate gate? :steammocking:
Ok jokes apart you should not compare BG1&2 with BG3. It's unhealthy. For example where is the THACO? Where are my snd edition rules? I could do this all day, so let's not start it.
Now let's talk about the merchants system of this game. You find it's annoying and I understand it very well. But unfortunately this is a you-problem. I can't talk for other people but I really like it this way, I am also glad that golds pieces have weight, so you must not sell everything everywhere to get as much gold as you can. It's a better strategic to keep gem stones as greater currency for example, and I am really fan of this.
