One of the main issues with minion masters on TT is they tend to bog down combat. Perhaps they could leverage Swarm AI to mitigate this in BG3.
Yeah, I imagine the subclass would be somewhat reconfigured for video game purposes. Otherwise, it'll just get extremely tedious to manage a bunch of zombies individually.
On the speed of combat, swarm AI so far doesn't do much at least it feels that way to me. Pales in comparison to surprise round, that speeds up the combat ow and braking of potion of speed so you get AOE haste without concentration.
Maybe they should just combine those trashy unites into a single one... but i guess swarm AI is at least better than nothing.
Best thing to speed up BG 3 combat would be to fix - remove the dash animation and automatic camera paning to active unite. That would help for sure with all the trashy zombies you would have. Both of those are comeplety redundant and take a long time out of combat when you stack them up...
Necromancy is a subclass of wizard at level 2.
They really aren't a pet or summoning subclass, but they can eventually animate nearby dead bodies and maintain control of them for 24 hours so you can have a few of them, and you can create more than other casters using the same spell.
Your undead minions would also have more health and deal more damage than any other spellcaster using the animate dead spell by adding your wizard level to their hit points and your proficiency bonus to their damage.
Necromancers in D&D are very, VERY powerful debuffers. They can summon and create minions, and their undead minions are stronger than other casters are, but it's also not their focus.
