Presets for bodies are coming and for face they are already in. But no sliders.
That is an odd reason for not buying the game. They definitely should add some different body types, but it’s still a great game.
If someone is not a fan of CRPGs (or "not yet"), has perhaps no connection to DnD universe and lore - they will judge purely "feature-wise". For players like that there are several RPGs they need to choose from and then it becomes purely a matter of ticking checkboxes "this game has that while this one doesn't, +5 points here, +0 points there".
So I don't see a decision made according to lack of some feature as an invalid one. Especially character customization - some come to RPGs to create their ideal avatar after all. Either way - to OP's question: it's unfortunately not planned. Officialy.
But! When Skyrim first released, it also was.. lacking in customization (albeit back then in 2011 it was already better in that department than BG3 is now, 11+ years later). However talented modders fixed that sometime down the line and mods like ECE and RaceMenu elevated Skyrim's character customizarion to the highest bar possible even by modern standards. So bottom line - while Larian doesn't seem to be keen on the idea of a good character creator - it doesn't mean there will not be mods out there to fix it. Of course, there's also no guarantee that such mods will be created.
I haven't heard anything about body presets, have they specifically mentioned that they are coming to the game?
Oh that's interesting, I completely missed that data-mining. Thanks for the information!
Edit: I don't suppose you have any links with pictures do you?
What about hoagies?
It's Panda failing at humor.
Earlier go through might have been in in patch 3 datamines (as chubblot references in above video)
Hope is that the game would be good otherwise and popular enough for modders to pick up Larian's slack.
