i think stadia does though... if you want to throw away some money. i imagine controller support will be released on full release along with the planned local coop rather then in EA.
It makes sense, but due to the fact that I use a duo of a mouse plus a keyboard at work, I prefer to play on a bed with a pad. Even though it is often less precise.
It may turn out to be useful when playing on the Steam Deck but otherwise, a party-based CRPG played with a controller? I'll probably avoid it like a plague.
if it plays like DOS2 with controller then it is fine actually i dare say good. The fact it is turnbased therefore quick menuing, decision making and precision is not required making it smooth sailing.
You guys make it sound like its a task that makes the game impossible lol.
It's a decent system IF you HAVE to play with a controller but still something I wouldn't do willingly in any scenario where I have other options.
P.S. "Quick navigation is not required" is an abysmal argument, by the way. Just because it's not mandatory to progress it doesn't mean it's not welcomed.
And I already find Larian's UI clumsy, slow and cumbersome enough even playing with a mouse and keyboard.
Optimal/intuitive controller input is required to keep the player engaged in the story and/or the mechanics.
Take a note from this patch on the PC and how much it extends the combat because the hotkeys were removed (for some reason they are still in the options to be changed). The mechanics navigation is more difficult with a controller and people generally don't have infinite time in the day to do some menial task like pick up all sorts of trash from the ground up to sell it at a vendor as if they're playing Janitor's Gate 3.
If combat extends 10 more minutes than it should, for 4 consecutive fights, then how long would it take for a new player to say something like... "F this, I'll just go do chores IRL"?
Quick/intuitive menuing & precise controls is required if you don't have infinite free time so that players of all levels have a decent time running through the whole game; on both consoles and PC.
*Required for some
But still fully playable with a controller without issues other then a persons lack of attention span
depends on the player doesn't it.
Obviously you missed the point of my post. What i was referring to was the fact that it is turnbased so when you are fighting something they aren't going to ass blast you while you are actively trying to menu to your abilities with a controller. I was not referring to a persons lack of time or attention span.
if you said you wanted to play an RTS like COH or starcraft... i would say you are putting yourself at a severe disadvantage if you wanted to play with a controller. but playing with a controller doesn't give a disadvantage in BG3 other then inefficient menuing
So it doesn't affect you. Congratulations.
Lots of people enjoy playing non-twitchy PC games with a controller for comfort/ergonomics. And the game is clearly going to be on consoles eventually. DoS2 played fantastically with controller. There is zero reason not have controller support, especially considering the size of Larian's studio at this juncture. It's only a boon.
Your pretentious position scoffing at people that would dare to use a control pad on PC is the only abysmal argument here.
I said it's a confirmed upcoming feature.
What are you even crying about, exactly?
1) the stadia version is likely their testing grounds and they still need to work out a few kinks before they're comfortable putting it on all systems
2) it's not a major priority and they would rather use time and resources finishing the actual game before putting in optional systems.
2) It's coming during EA anyways, so why not earlier, so people could actually use it.
3) That and split-screen would be great, especially since split-screen is also in the base code. Just enable both and finalize them later on.
