Nere and far
I haven't played to this point for a while but I am finding the battle here a challenge. Amusingly, the 'push' action is used liberally by the duergar to send one, two or three of my party into the lava. Hilarious. The game cheerfully tells me they are 'melting'. Lae-zel is melting? That may improve here appearance and demeanour. Kidding aside, I must find another way to play out this encounter as I'm getting nowhere. Any tips?

I'll have a detailed video out in about 10 days.

It depends on your party composition, if you made a deal with the Duergar rebel to join you in the fight, and if you want to side with Nere then finish him off on your own; there's variety on how you approach this because there's a lot of high ground and terrain that can be taken advantage of.

Here's what I usually do:
Sneak Bae'zel on the highground behind the archer.
Shadowheart next to my MC
Astarion behind the mind controller next to the tent
Blow up the rock.
Start the fight, side with Duergar (this incentivizes the other Duergar to push the rebels instead of your own units)
Bless my party with the power of friendship
Push the archer into the chasm with Bae'zel & then focus on Nere with her
Have Astarion finish the mind controller
The MC and Shadowheart are just there to tank any damage & make sure your Duergar allies survive.
You can chug a potion of speed & poison with Astarion & Bae'zel
Spam the Halt command with SH to make sure Nere skips his turn... You don't want him getting a turn.

The goal is to outlast them in the fight since you receive reinforcements from the Duergar in turn 3(I believe)

Of course, this is just one approach.
You can also side with Nere, let him kill Thrynn & push the Duergar down with the ring off her body; then kill Nere with he has low health.
You can camp 1 time next to the rock to make sure Nere gets to half HP but the gnomes die. Camp 2 times for him to fully choke on the poison.
You can set up barrels everywhere & make one big boom.

Depends on what your end goal is

One I thought off if you plan to genocide all the duegars is to kill those at the beginning first then work you way to that point or at least possible groups that could spill in that area. Fight them on your terms not theirs. You can engage them in the other room and let them go toward you. If you got fairy fire, itll counter their invisibility.
