BUG: The Trapped Man Quest

After speaking with Benryn and choosing the option to "follow me", Benryn stays on the ground and won't move. My Character cut through the nearby door and spoke to his prone body from the other side of said door and this furthers the quest. The cut scene plays but his physical body is stuck in the room, lying on the ground where I found him.

This is the one with the man in the burning building that you need to free?

At the moment, most people suggest that you skip it until Larian sorts it out, it's not only bugged, but even when it does 'work' it's kinda ridiculously difficult and overly convoluted. I believe it's meant to induce a sort of panic and need to rush to save him before everyone dies, but the way it's structured it's just frustrating and will cause save scumming.

I don't even bother with it yet. I think I tried it once over a year ago, and I was like 'nope, let the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ burn'.

I always leave the guy but run into the room that the fire comes from to grab the chest in the corner by the bed. Then carry it outside to unlock it. Has a sweet maul inside that does a 1d4 thunder aoe on landing whenever you jump. Good for barbarians or Lae'zel

seemed to work fine for me. In fact Don't you need it to Activate Turn Based Mode?

I had Letzial Open the Big Door, the Fists ran in, I sent myself with them for the Counselor.

Letzial Climbs and Jumps to balcony and Breaks through. Braces to move things off man and I get Turn based mode. Astaroth and Shadowheart just watch.

Edit: to be clear, not saying you are all not having problems. I have my own problems. That guy ain't one of them. So hopefully if you try my method, you might get through it.
