What I'll say is this, don't be afraid of the long rest button. Just think about whom you dream about and all will be made clear as you play the game moving forward and know, that as a protagonist in an RPG, something is special that is happening (and we don't actually have all the details of that in early access)
I wouldn't worry regardless. I get the impression this is going to be much more like typical RPGs where it's all about telling the story. Even when there's references to limited time as part of that story, I'm currently doubting the game is gonna have a lot of excessive time constraints related to the main plot like you'd see with PF: WotR or PF: Kingmaker.
From the time I've played so far there seems to be no game over linked to over resting, In fact it seems the more you rest and use the tadpoles power the more it hints to opening more choices in the story not only for your character but your companions as well.
As this is Baldur's Gate 3 and Baldur's Gate games are about you and your 'daddies offspring,' maybe if you're lucky he'll resurrect, kill the parasite and you'll get to face off against him for creating you.
Or maybe it will just ignore the point of the BG games as too inconvenient and kill you for resting lol.
