Best Beginner Class?
So I am terribly indecisive in RPG characters but my current character is a fighter, is that solid for first run with npc party? Was tempted going bard but was worried it would feel less involved as support

If you like charisma and would like to try spellcasting, try a warlock. It has less spells to manage and can always deal a lot of ranged dps. If you go "the fiend" subclass, you can have Persuasion, Intimidation and Deception as class skills (aka higher rolls) for free!

Well this game only goes to level 4 lol

To be more accurate, since a lot of people have reading comprehension disorders and not to mislead them.

The EA only goes to level 4

The GAME will go much higher when fully released.

Warlocks happen to be one of my favorite classes in BG3, because simply they can do a lot of things that are really nice to have for your main character. Since it is Charisma based It can be the face, which the companions seriously lack the ability to do, all while not gimping itself while doing it.

Unlike other classes, it's main cantrip will take you all the way to the end of the game, while augmenting that with a pretty good spell selection that has a good mix of utility and damage.

The only other classes that can be a face and do DPS are the sorcerer and the Bard, and as mentioned by Redrew they have a lot more spells available to them, meaning that it is much easier to take a boat load of crappy useless spells and gimp yourself by end game.

The best "class" is the class, that suits the character you are making.
In other words.. there is no "best" you should create something, that you think suits the character you wanna create and maybe the story you want to tell.

With all that being said, there are classes, that would be significantly easier to play out of the bat (if you are new to cRPG´s) but I still think you would manage whatever you pick

Trial and error, is actually also a good teacher.. Personally I never min/max. I want a belieable character, with a background story, class/personality/etc that suits the whole purpose and then evolve on it (the journey, often changes my characters a bit, albeit not always)

TLDR:

Create what you like and have fun
The game gives you a fighter 4 mins into game, then you get a cleric, warlock, rouge and a wizard.

I don't choose any of those classes when starting a new game but instead try

Barbarian, druid and bard and see what they add to the game.

So far BARBARIAN ROCKS (i will try the druid and bard someday.....)

I did choose a fighter for my first play through, but ended up competing with the fighter companion

Go with a Fighter or Ranger and use a bow/crossbow. Nothing easier and more potent than that.^^
^he gets both of those in his npc party though, so hes missing out when he has learned the ropes

I never use the fighter npc in my party because she is annoying af
