Love the game, still iffy about character writing...

Much as I enjoy playing the game, I am constantly finding myself disliking most of the companions due to their personalities. So, sooooooo much edge. Sweet sangria, tone that down a little.

I personally don't care for evil runs and would like to be able to do a run with a much more neutral/good group rather than constantly deal with Laezel's alpha ♥♥♥♥♥ issues or Shadowheart's cryptic passive-aggression or even Astarion's sarcasm. Wyll and Gale aren't entirely off the hook either. I don't MIND their personalities, per se, but some aspects need to be toned down because they're way too aggravating. Aren't we tired of dealing with such people in reality?

Man, I still like them a lot, but cut us some slack and give us some alternate companions who aren't ♥♥♥♥♥. I want to play to escape ♥♥♥♥♥♥ people, not have them foisted on me with no alternatives.

I know we're likely getting Minsc and Boo down the line, but... can we get some good characters who AREN'T idiots?

We're getting "good" companions, they've already said multiple times they deliberately gave us the more twisted ones for EA 'cos they don't get as much feedback about them otherwise. Already made changes to make them more neutral and less edgy.

I don't know how that will rile up the regulars when the regulars already know Larian will add more good aligned at release.

There are still a few companions yet to be revealed and/or confirmed. Karlach, for one as well as Jaheira, Minsc and there also is that datamined gnome weredruid lady, I think. Hellia's the name. Nightsong probably too.

It's been a while since I was on top of the news regarding the game, so I suppose I missed that bit of info. Thanks. It's a relief because other than their overly edgy personalities, I do like the characters and I don't think I'll mind them in the long run, just tone the edge down a little.

Wyll, Gale, and Shadowheart works without too much grief. Shadowheart doesn't mind avoiding conflict and pretending to be good. But it's 2 casters, and no tank unless the PC is a tank.

My hope is that with more options, we'll be able to build more parties like that, even a bit better. Probably only 2 of these edgelords + 0-1 custom PC + 1-2 "normal" companions that aren't all secrets and drama.

I personally don't mind much what the characters say because I have no interest in using them. I want to make my own group with their own back stories. The game is just a playground for my characters.

Some more characters have been datamined. Whether or not we get them in early access is something that is currently unknown.

I do know that Swen said they focused on the more neutral and evil characters during the early access period because most players gloss over the evil characters statistically and wanted players to experience them a bit before the game released.
