Will BG3 be out before d&d 6th ed?
Larian currently releases one patch every 5-6 months.
Next patch in July or August will implement the bard class and maybe a new race.
This leaves the monk and paladin classes, one patch for each, one by the end of 2022, the other around may or june 2023. So I guess, at this rate, the game won't be ready before the end of 2023, early 2024.
A launch after mid 2024 could be bad for the sales because a new edition of d&d is scheduled for the second half of the year, making BG3 even more remote from the ttrpg than it already is.
Now will Larian rush the production of the game to cope with d&d 6th ed time frame? And will we have to wait for a few months after its official release for the game to be bug free and polished? What do you think?

Edit: doubles removed

Larian announced weeks ago that the game would release in 2023. Most people are estimating a q2 2023 release.

Next patch is actually in 3 days, after that it'll be October, followed by Febuary and so on, Release is stated for 2023. no specifics on when exactly, though.

I don't think they'd give us a release year unless they were very sure of it, considering how stingy they are with hard dates.

Will 6th edition be out before 2023? If the answer is no, then no. If not, but will be released in 2023 then it'll be a tossup.

If 6th edition is released after 2023, then yes, Baldur's Gate 3 will be released before 6th edition.

There is a 6th edition in the pipeline? God help us. 😳

From what (little) they have said about it, it sounds more like a 5.5 than a 6 since they have said it will be backwards compatible with 5.

There will be no 6th edition. The way 5th is being handled they want YOU to make up all the rules for 6th edition. it will be called whatever you want and you can do whatever you want with books of fluff that add nothing to the game. it will be released whenever you make it

It's supposed to be an update/re-tweak of the 5th edition, not a 6th one.
Yes. BG3 will be released early 2023. The next patch is on Thur, July 7th.

Almost nobody wants that.

Really? I haven’t experienced that in my circle, but maybe there have been polls to which I am unaware.

At this point I'd be happy if it just had more variations of armor, or be able to get rid of some of the UI stuff that clutters the screen like that monstrosity in the upper right corner that covers to much of the game and has no real function.

It saddens me that I see mods that have armor that looks a thousand times better then the in game stuff.

At the risk of rehashing the obscenely long and circular thread(s) that have come and gone about alignment:
- 5e has very very little mechanical implementation of alignment (a few class abilities [e.g., divine sorc], artefact level magic items and some sentient magic items, and some monsters [e.g., raksaha are vulnerable to piercing damage dealt by good aligned characters])
- alignment systems in video games tend to be quite restrictive compared to table top since a human DM is able to take context into account
- Alignment hasn't been removed, just de-emphasized. The core books (PHB, DMG, and MM) and supplements from at least Tasha's onward) are setting agnostic and thus have dropped references to races tending to by any particular alignment (more so in the cases of player character races) as that is a setting specific thing (see orcs in FR vs Greyawk vs Ebberon).
- DMs are (and always have been) free to increase or decrease the importance of alignment as works for them/their group. WotC isn't going to kick down doors because someone wants all orcs to be evil.

I run a much darker campaign world than the standard and it is more along the lines of a Robert E. Howard world than the fluffy rainbow worlds of WotC. I rarely run 5E, but when I do I simply modify the rules to taste.
