A Shadowheart Theory
So Shadowheart is unusually kindhearted for a Shar worshipper. Not just in how she likes kids and animals but also in her "kinder, gentler" interpretation of Shar's teachings. With few exceptions she rarely disapproves of me being a good guy

I was just now staring at one of the Selune temple statues of Selune with her Bangs and it clicked.

Suddely I remembered Shadowheart saying how Shar worshippers torture people of other faiths into converting and many break before they "see the light"(Or darkness, I guess)

I think Shadowheart was a Selune cleric before Shar's cult managed to catch her and break her. They wiped her memories, convinced her she was one of them, and sent her on the mission to get the relic.

That little flareup of strange magic she had that seemed to scare her...I wonder if that was Selunite magic of some sort.

You wouldn't be the first to suggest this idea. In fact, I am certain you can find a few videos on YouTube talking about this. I would recommend a watch when you get the chance and other theory videos, especially those by Harbs Narbs.

There is one interesting dialogue i had recently found. In the vilage near the broken Selune statue behind the windmill. There will be an outburst of unknown magic that Shadowheart is not sure how to react to. If you are a sorcerer you can see that its a spark of magic inside Shadowheart herself, similar to... well sorcerer. You can even encourage her to study and master it.
Just imagine a Shadow Magic Sorcerer. *sigh* We can only dream.

Interesting.

Alas, i'm just too damn manly to play a namby-pamby spell class. So i never get tidbits like that :)
That's basically been the going theory.

It's possible. We don't have enough information to confirm it, but the situation in the goblin ransacked village where you can trigger a cut scene in a few different locations where Shadowheart is distracted with something, either a book about school or a selune statue or a different location with something, and she develops a light based power in her hand which she suddenly waves out of her hand due to her not recognizing it and it scaring her a bit.

If there's more to it than that, or the theory is a different way but still the base idea is accurate we don't know quite yet, but some tom foolery may be a foot yes.

As for the sorcerer bit, I think the line is more referencing the fact that it seemed to come through her, not that it was directly relating her to being a sorcerer per say.

I'm all feeling smart and thinking I figured out something new, and apparently i'm just the last one to show up at the party lol

I think there will be more to Shadow heart than being a former Sulunite. I think she's going to end up having a familial bond, with the two goddesses, and the plot twist is that she is Shar's actual daughter, and Selune is her aunt.

You're thinking of the Nightsong who is an Avatar of Shar. Shadowheart is not the Nightsong. She's probably just a Selunite commando on a secret infiltration mission and had her memory wiped so they couldn't interrogate her.

The artifact is the key to everything, probably including restoring Shadowheart's memory.

Yeah that kind of trickery doesn't feel like Selune's style.

More likely the Shar cultists got a perverse kick out of twisting a Selunite's mind so badly that she believed she was one of them by the time they finished with her.

I wonder if this will be part of options for doing some multi classes with some of the companions?

I plan to for sure do a Paladin of Selune just to see how that dialoge goes. I did a cleric a few patches back and got a lot of hate and banter back and forth with her. It's going to be interesting. With the above info I might have to have her love interest play be a Sorcercer and than do the Dragon Paladin of Selune in another play.

I been lately making MP parties that I have custom chars to keep from getting to much of the game banter. Want to save a lot of the side odd stuff for release.

Anyone ever try to romance her as a Cleric of Selune? Is it even possible?

Don't feel bad, I didn't even think about this until I just now read what you wrote out. Would make a lot of sense, to me, as well. She doesn't want to talk about her past, even if you get her into sexy time. The scar across her face may have something to do with it as well, if they had to torture her. Also explains the entire cut scene about distrust, and sewing doubt into one's mind, after Raph. Definitely a Shar thing, but she seems especially poignant about the influence of that self doubt and basically being gaslighted.
