You can join the Larian discord from their website. They have voice rooms for playing BG3 multiplayer there.
No Text.
No VOIP.
No ping.
Nothing.
So, join the Larian official Discord and use their voice lobbies or some other 3rd party program because it's your only choice right now.
And besides that, no one wants random joins in their game anyway so it's best to find a group on the Discord that actually wants players.
They made a D&D game where:
1. There is no communication whatsoever between players (unlike Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 and the Bioware NWN)
2. Your character is tied to the campaign (unlike Baldur's Gate 1 & 2)
3. Every NPC/PC dialogue is a 1-on-1 affair with no intervention from other players (unlike SWTOR)
4. There are literally as many genital options as face options for some races
The multiplayer is incredibly banal. It's actually insane how much of an afterthought multiplayer feels like in this allegedly 92%/95% game with a bajillion players. What the hell?
Oh thank god there's no cosmetic DLC, except there is.
Oh thank god there's no DRM, but there's no version not locked away behind two launchers.
Oh thank god it's not $70, but it's missing features of the original game.
I'm basically having fun with the game, but is this what we're applauding in 2023? It kinda just seems like the media are having babby's first DOS right now.
Stop whining. In the sea of turds that is modern gaming, yes, we applaud good games. Especially when there's good post-release support, which is almost unheard of elsewhere. It's good to have constructive criticism, and it's even better that Larian has shown they listen. I would be surprised if the multiplayer communication problem, about which this thread was originally, is not addressed in the future. But to whine petulantly because the game's not perfect is immature and unhelpful.
Then depending on that I ask what class they want to go for and if they want good/evil playthrough.
Then my further phrases will depend on the answers.
not a damn thing you said is actually accurate. but OK, you do you.
