Party Limit Begone v1.3!
Increases the party limit to 16 members and multiplayer limit to 8 players!
https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/327?tab=description

Installation:
1. Download and unzip this mod.
2. Move the Mods folder in to your Baldurs Gate 3 Data folder. Located in \steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Data.
3. Create a backup of either your bg3.exe or bg3_dx11.exe located in \steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\bin.
4. Launch DeltaPatcher.exe and for the original file select either your bg3.exe or bg3_dx11.exe.
5. For the patch file select either BG3-PartyLimitBegone.xdelta or BG3_DX11-PartyLimitBegone.xdelta and then hit apply patch. GoG users download the separate patch file instead
6. That's it, enjoy the game!

Important:
In order to continue your multiplayer save with more than 4 players, create a new lobby, set your party size and start a new game. Then load your main save, this will carry over the player limit. Ingame sessions unfortunately don't allow you to tweak the settings.
If you don't want to increase the multiplayer limit just follow step 1 and 2 of the installation.
You must dismiss one party member if you already have 4 with you, this will reset the party limit and set it to 16.
Some ingame events are hardcoded for 4 party members and will glitch out. This is usually solved by either dismissing the additional members/players or by teleporting back and forth.
The larian game launcher will throw a data mismatch warning at you, that's completly normal and can safely be ignored.

Credits to amlw from the BG3 discord for finding the hardcoded multiplayer bits.

The game as-is already breaks in multiplayer with a few conversations way too often, causing issues like never being able to save again.

Introducing more points of failure into that is probably not a great idea at this juncture, but you do you.

Hey that's pretty good.

I just did it rather quickly cause I was curious if it's any similar to how it was done in divinity original sin and if I could get it to work, honestly not much of a modder. Also there's seems to be request for it.

It's almost as if Larian should just add the option for larger party sizes to the game.

Or almost as if modding a game to support an amount of players more than what is intended by the developer will be a sketchy hack.

Make the case for six players that can't also be made for 8, for example.

There is a request for it, and I'd be curious to hear how stable the game is with five players. Just getting it to work is one thing, getting it not to crash every other conversation is another.

Good luck either way, you'd be a hero to people want more players even if I don't envy you the headache of trying to support it.

The best thing about the modding community for this game is we already have a pretty solid game just in EA anything else people have an issue with mods will take care of it.

Updated the screenshots in the first post and tried it with 6 players. Resting and getting ported back worked just fine. On 5 players, the last player got stuck in the camp once and reloading the savefile would crash. But maybe I messed something up during testing. Because my new save with 6 players worked just fine. Workaround for anyone running into these issues is to have player 5 and 6 disconnect before resting or reloading.

How likely are you to update this at launch? Or do you think this method will still work? Asking for a group of 6 friends 😀

I will update it if needed, haven't tested it yet.

It takes awhile, I have to play the game first and get five companions for testing lol.

Couldn't figure out the multiplayer limit for the full release yet but the managed to increase the party limit and released my current progress for now: https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/327

So yeah multiplayer is still limited to 4 players but the party limit is now 8.
