Findal attacks me when I heal him?

From what I've gathered, when Findal is down with 1 hp (he starts that way when I arrive to fight the goblins), I should be able to heal him and get some dialogue. Instead, if I throw a potion at him or heal him with a spell, it heals him and he instantly turns hostile. Does anyone know what is supposed to happen here?

I know that if you throw a potion directly at someone (as opposed to near their feet so they are hit by the splash) it will deal damage to them and they will turn hostile. Not sure why using a healing spell would do that though.

never heard about it, is the flask that takes damage, not the person. i dont see findal as important anyway, is he? but this never happen to me and i heal him by potion and spells before.
