Will you give in to the tadpole or resist it?
I plan on fully submitting myself as a slave to the tadpole on my first play through

Basically will turn a negative into a positive, even at the cost of being a mindflayer hybrid! Since I really doubt without it he could achieve all his dreams, & break his pact too. Especially with a devil lady who won't let him free I think, so he'll need a way to put the absolute fear in her.

Then my Wyll can be the greatest hero, except will still have dirty secrets like the "Jelly Bean King" lol. Where he must not reveal that he's like a mindflayer disguised as a human now? But I'm betting he'll retain his soul, & mostly be still the same person after controlling the tadpole somehow? https://youtu.be/qFP8lY_EzO4

I'm disappointed in you. What negative is there when it comes to Wyll? Besides he has all the power he needs from a certain lady friend. If only you could follow his lead when it comes to GQ ;)
On a personal note though I almost never use the tadpole powers I think I have once to the point of getting the extra powers and seeing the 'mental love interest' maybe once or twice but I didn't use them beyond that.

Hmm. Good question. The first character I plan on running with for launch is a chaotic neutral force of nature and whimsy. So... I guess I'll see how I feel in the moment. :P

Nobody likes to end their story in submission to a great evil unless THEY are that very evil in my experience. There are plenty of other opportunities to gain godlike/godslaying powers in the setting, Maybe end game lichdom? That was a popular route for my player's less than savory characters. The tadpole is the least appealing, but they seem to have an alternate opportunity to dominate the influences of the tadpole - seeing as how our vampire buddy want's to go down that road.

(If this were tabletop, I'd just homebrew an illithid as a playable race and balance it for play. Why make it so complex? Then again, maybe someone really just wants to play with a curse or affliction. I had a player who didn't want to play a Damphyr, but wanted a vampiric curse.)

I once heard that this game won't support level 20 characters and will end several levels before that (Level 12? I may be wrong). Our characters shouldn't be confronting our deities w/ sword in hand or dealing with issues that influence the world beyond the coast, so I suppose this tadpole may be the greatest source of power we can muster. The Cleric will have divine intervention by this point, but as this is a videogame - I doubt we can ask for much from our dieties.

If the pacing is similar to Tabletop, by 12th lvl in the Storm King's Thunder 5E adventure book, we would be facing Giant Lords and Dragons often. The adventure ends with a Dragon as well - and at Level 17 (in my case). I fear our adventurers will retire early and lose their ambitions after Baldur's Gate is rescued, before their full potential is reached.

From what we've seen so far, I have no reason to -not- give in to the tadpool. I mean this is the narrative of your main character. You can't die because you can just be resurrected any number of ways including the camp NPC whose sole job is to rez you for a small amount of coin. And thats if the tadpool even could kill you. But it wont. Itll just be a source of power. I do hope they offer a separate path, as there seems to be no reason to resist at this point. Besides, you miss out on interacting with your "perfect partner" if you resist, which feelsbadman.

Yeah, I think 12 is a realistic place to stop, though it depends. The Cleric gets his final power at 14, but Paladin gets their final power at 18, and everyone else is in between those numbers. So, it might be fair if no one gets their final power? But yeah, idk. Seems like its gunna be odd no matter how they slice it. But 9th level spells are so powerful theres no way they can give us them.

I would say, reasonably, level 9 makes the most sense. Most campaigns dont really go above 9 in table top, and to be quite honest, since we already played through the first 4 or 5 levels of BG3, that would be the first part of a campaign. So, for the next act, I think it would be fine to stop at 9. Though, based on how fast we're leveling, I really, really, dont see how it can be as low as even 12.

Based on what they are making it seem like theres going to be dozens of hours of story progression, and we're capped out in only a couple of them? They'd HAVE to give us like, level 17 otherwise we'd be capped out way too damn early.

we're in Act 1. I dont know how many acts there are, but if it was only 2, that would be kinda pointless to break it up into Acts. So, minimum of 3 acts. That puts us at around level 14. But based on the leveling speed, that still feels way too short, considering this game has like 4 years of development, and has shown us it intends for us to be capped out in about an hour or two, I know leveling slows down but it wont slow down THAT MUCH. We'll be capped beore we even hit the "final chapter".

So. I guess Tl;Dr
I hope they figure out the level pacing.

BUT. Guess what no matter what they do, modders will finish it. Expect level 20 mods with at least -some- 9th level spells and class features. Modders have already given us level 5 and 3rd level spells.

Well it'd be nice to know the goals of both the tadpole as well as the dream being, since I'm pretty sure they are different entities. But truth be told, I'll likely do one where I try my best not to use it as much as I can and a different run where I do use it. To what severity I don't know, but I'll use it for the extra powers and whatever that does to the story.
Levels are gained slower the higher you climb up the ladder. Originally, the level cap was going to be 10, but then Larian said that they were going to raise it, but they didn't give us an exact level, so speculation is that it will be somewhere between 12-14.

I'm with the few here that has yet to see a reason not to use it yet. Like extra abilities and power vs.. nothing? Kind of a no brainer. I would almost understand for rp reason's but it's pretty 1 sided at the moment.

As Ronin Gamer said about there being 2 entities, just very well be the case. There is "something" inside you that finds the dream entity revolting. It could also be just symbolic of your immune system fighting off the creature's infestation.

Larian I hope will hurry up and show us reasons to choose the alternative path.

A true hero understands that their will cannot be commanded or subsumed, instead they will conquer all with an indomitable will that bends others to their ambitions.

first real run im going to do when it fully releases is probably going to be a druid, hopefully goliath as i played that as my first character in tabletop dnd, whom would never give in to something that unnatural. after that maybe ill play a wizard that will give in to its power.

Use all the options to get your brain eaten away from the tadpole and at the end of the game you will get your cloned Dark, or Slavebrain back ;)
This is the reason why ill take all those 3 Brains brains allways with me and bring them to the camp. You never know when youll have need of another perfectly fresh brain from a jar.

One of his negatives is the devil lady, yet you're making her sound like a positive? So how about stop thinking with your ♥♥♥♥, & think with your brain Vixzian.

Now "I'm disappointed in you.." ;)

I am following his lead, which is breaking free from my devil lady. 😈🤤

I'm starting to wonder about you now lol. First the jealousy over WM and now an obsession to break Wyll away from his lady....is there something you're trying to tell us?

I'm pretty certain WM herself accused you of jealousy. I'm merely reiterating ;)

One might argue that it's more about Wyll himself than his situations as you call it.

I don't think he understand that the female cambion is his warlock patron, without her, he is not a warlock. He would be a low lvl townsfolk.
