AC 23!! is it a bug?
Seems that you can go up to 23 AC in early access.
Is that a bug?
+2 from shield and +2 from Absolute Warboard are stacking up

I've seen higher.

If Forge Domain Cleric is added (highly unlikely) you can get up to 26 AC with relative ease by level 6-8.

Okay, so it would be fairly easy to get 20+ AC. You mentioned 2 right there. Plate is straight 18 AC. Shield and the other ability are a total of +4. That is 22 right there.

Maybe he also has a regular shield, adding +1. Or maybe a cloak/ring of protection adding +1

My level 6 paladin has 19 AC and his dex isn't even maxed out AND he doesn't have plate.

With buffs, 23 isn't all that much.
Githyanki Half-plate: 17 base AC
Shield: +2
Shield of Faith: +2
Defensive Fighting Style: +1
Blur: Disadvantage to all attacks against you
Mirror Image: +9 (1st attack, then +6, then +3)

For at least the first attack against you, you'll have an AC of 31 and attackers will have disadvantage against you. This will go down by 3 each time an attack misses until you end up with an AC of 22 and attackers have disadvantage (which should be roughly equivalent to having an AC of 27).

That's without any magic items, but it does require three spells, two of which are concentration based, so you'd need a little help from another character.

I think there are other items that can temporarily boost your AC by a point in the game too. Ring of Bracing or something mebbe? The one that let's you Shove to get a +1 AC?

I do think the Absolute Warboard was coded wrong - most likely it is only supposed to give that buff through the shield spell it gives you, rather than just having it always on.

Yeah that was my understanding also, a similar spell to shield of faith - way it works atm its basically a +4 shield compared to the rest +2 of the game

just to clarify not taking about DnD in general but BG3 early access - with L4 cap

Given baldur's gate is using the DnD 5e ruleset, any answers related to 5e should theoretically apply to BG3.
