That makes sense but a bad strat when it comes to keeping the game going especially if they need money to keep it going. I'm not sure if they do or not.
What is in the Early Access is not all there is to the game so far. It's a small sample for us to test stuff out and provide feedback to them so they can get information. They aren't putting the Early Access on sale for the sole reason that I stated, the Early Access is you paying well in advance for the game, and while you wait, you have access to Early Access.
Larian I'm pretty sure never put Original Sin 2 Early Access on sale at any point, this shouldn't be any different and that shouldn't be a surprise.
That makes sense
Look at DOS2 price. It is by all definitions an old game now. Yet it still commands a respectable price. Larian puts out a fun product. They do not need the money for development, and they will not put it on sale until at a minimum of 6 months to a year after formal launch. Then it won't be deeply discounted. You only need to do that if you are not generating revenue. Considering some of their oldest games are still being played, bought, modded, etc, it is a safe bet that this project will follow a similar pattern.
No wonder companies keep their greedy course. majority of just casual gamers doesnt care.
They don't need more money for this. They have become profitable enough that they are now completely independent from any producer.
They are still using their early access formula because it works for them and helped make DOS2 and DOS better games.
I don't get it.
